As for the battery and radio mounting, just flip her over and place the components where you feel best. Depending on the battery, motor and servos, you might need to trim away some of the bulkhead and slide the battery forward to get the right CG. I CA'd some velcro to the tray and I also use a velcro strap, looped throught he holes.
Also, you can see that I trimmed away a lot of the bottom of the cowl. This was for 2 reasons: 1, I wanted more airflow throught he cowl, so this gives me a large exit area. 2, Easy access to the battery. Q |

That's Doculam painted with Rustoleum Metalic blue. Doculam is a 1.5mil laminating material. I'm building so many planes right now in prototyping, etc that I was spending a fortune in covering. This is becomming a popular covering material since it's about the same weight as Ultracote light. It goes on just like any other covering because it has an adhesive backing.
OK, back to the plane. My vinyl decals should be done at the sign shop today, so I hope to get the gear in, landing gear on and decals on tonight. I'll post pics of the finished bird in the morning. I'm running my other Himax 2015 in this, and until I get some new servos I'll be using a mix of GWS and Tower Pros. The Tower Pros suck, but It's what I have for now. I need some more GWS servos. The naros work great in this size bird. This should work well for me to practice routines in the small field next to my house. Q |
