Default Flight Sim X

Well today in the mail I got Microsoft Flight Sim X. When I first started it up it ran perfect but notice the graphics suck and it was about the same as my old Flight Sim 2002. Then I realized you can boost the thing up to show everything. Well boost it up just a little and it runs VERY VERY slow now. This is just on my laptop. My mom has a hp computer which is just three years old and it ran better but still VERY sluggish. I personally have a IMAC in my room which I know it wont run on there. And my laptop does fine as long you keep it low graphics.
I have also a computer in my room which is hook to my flat screen in my room. The only problem with it is the DVD rom does not want to work. I figure I could take the DVD rom out of another computer and replace it in there with no problem.
I was wondering what would make this program run a lot faster. i would like to add some stuff to the computer I already have but dont want to spend too much $$ due to I could probably buy a new system.
My HP desktop has 2.4 ghz intel celeron processer. 512 mb ddr ram memory (I know that needs a upgrade!!!!) 64 MB DDR SDRam.
Unsure video card. I think it is stock.

Real flight G3 runs perfect on it.

FSX is one hell of a program. I love it! I run a dual video card setup, but I can't remember which ones I have( I think BFG). I do know with the single video card (512mb) I could not run the game at full graphics, becuase it would be slow at larger airports. My computer has a 3.13 ghz intel duo processor, and 2GB of system memory. If you are serious about getting the game to run great upgrade your memory, and find out the status of your video card. A crappy card will slow the games down bad!

Agree. FSX is awsome, but you need a healthly processor (a celeron is not going to cut it), atleast a gig of good RAM, and a quality graphics card. Even at that point you wont be able to run the program at full tilt, but it will run well. If you can get the juice for it to run right, it is awsome.

does it also affect online play a lot. i seem to never get connected and sometimes it comes up with time out errors and a error saying you might be login somewhere else. i am going to try to upgrade either my laptop or computer. the laptop is a bit newer it has 1gb of memory i know and a intel core duo 2 processor.

FSX is great but it takes a lot of power to bring the thing up to speed. I own an HP laptop with an AMD Athlon X2 at 3.0ghz with 256 dedicated memory for video card with 2gb of ram which is the max the motherboard can handle. It still has its moments especially when the weather is downloaded this being with all the graphics up. I still use FS2004 for flight training practice my dad and I use the Cessna 172 panel a lot. My dad being a pilot is giving me the training for my private pilot. He says that it does almost everything as in the real world.

Based on your systems, I think you would get the most out of FS2004, as it's going to run far better on your computers. FSX adds some great features, namelly the shared cockpit multiplayer, but otherwise, there are better addons out for FS2004 than there are for FSX. . .at least for now since FSX is still new.

That said, if you haven't yet installed the service packs that should help you a great deal.

We have a rather large collection of tweaks and info on optimizing FSX here: http://www.gozr.net/iocl/viewforum.p...99578eb42511f6

You really need a hotted up PC to run this game at high settings. A laptop is never going to cut it, sorry.

I have a GE force 880GTS 620MB vid card, a core2 duo overclocked to 3ghz and 2GB of quality ram and still cannot run this game at max on all settings.

Make sure you have all the latest Service packs, make sure your video card drivers are all up date as well.

Running FSX on Dell XPS 720 with 4gb of RAM, 2.93 QX6800 Quad core processor and SLI NVidia 8800GTX vid cards...it runs perfect all the way up to full graphics...I purchased the PC from Dell Outlet for very cheap.

I run mine on a C2D 6750 overclocked to 3.6ghz (water cooled) 2gb of DDR2 Ram and an nVidia 8800GT with 512mb of onboard.,... and it is close to max, but not quite... FSX is awesome, but man does it kill a system
