Time for an update isn't it
![]() This weekend I started "building" the yak and this is going very fast. I sold my "old" extra and the new owner picked it up this weekend. So it was time to was time (last chance) to take some pictures to compare both planes. Let's say compare a "normal" - size 2.6m plane and this EF 110" Yak 54. Let see: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see the EF yak is big, the rudder was already amazing on my Extra and it's still nothing compared to the yak... It's crazy. We will see how this works out in flight ;-)

Ok time to start building now:
First thing to do was opening the tunel I'll get you some pictures of this very soon but I forgot to do this last weekend. After opening the tunnel you are able to install the landing gear. The landing gear is a very nice carbon gear with "airfoil", very nice finish!!! So just drill 4 holes after locating the gear in center of the plane. There are already 2 aluminum plates in the tunnel to make the gear very strong. So just screw the 4 bolts in place (supplied with the kit). Some pictures of the gear will follow. Ok time to install the rudder tray. This little plate is also supplied with the kit. I has place for 2 rudder servo's. I'm going to try 1 JR 8711 in the first flight, we will see. It's very easy to add a second servo after some flights if 1 servo isn't enough. So I just glue the supplied tray in place. ![]() You can do something else in the meanwhile. I decided to start the installation of the Emcotec DSPI MICRO RCS RV. What stands for "remote controlled switch" and "regulated voltage". The RCS switch is a switch that you can connect to your reciever and you can simply turn it on and off with your TX. This is a very hand switch to use with your ignition, as you can simply use is as kill switch. The switch I use is also an RV (regulated voltage) switch. As we know a DA engine can't handle a 7.4V battery so need reg. I'll use 5.5V. The reg is build in in the switch so this is very handy. The switch is installed in the inside of the plane. So there is no need to make a big hole in the fuselage. ![]() ![]() After that I decided to install the ignition battery. I'll use a 2000mAh Longgo lipo from Emcotec for this. I really like those lipo's because they are very high quality "made in Germany" and you are able to do a very clean installation. They also have a special charge connector so you don't have to disconect cables from your "power-system" every time you charge the plane. ![]() I decided to install the battery on the right side of the motor-box, same side of the ignition switch. In this way I don't have to cross the fuselage (and the Engine servo calble) with ignition wires (you have to keep the wires from radio installation and ignition as far as possible for eachother; if you don't do this this can give serious radio problems). And here is another great point of the yak; it's comes with a very big canopy, in this way you can easily access everything in the fuselage. And also the charging connector of the Longgo lipo. As you can see in the picture I also use some fuel tubing to make a kind of "soft" installation. Take a look yourself: ![]() ![]() ![]() I also finished the stabs and started the wings, this process is very easy, and I'll get you some pics of this next week. You just have to glue in the hinges (I did this with 3h epoxy), screw in your servo's (HS 5955TG, which fit perfectly) and open up the covering for the servo arm. I still to install emcotec dspi and reciever lipo's, but I'll have to wait on the engine before I can do this. (to get a good CG). I guess I will only have my engine in 2 weeks, so I'll finish the other bits like wheels, fuel tank, etc next weekend. If you have any comments or questions ... Shoot! Regards Jens

I am SUPER nterested in this plane...Is there anywhere that i can find out more info? I'd like to see the specs and stuff. I know the release date is supposed to
be late march, but I'm sure there is already a long waiting list....Anyone know how long it will take to get one if i'm not already on the list? |

I don't know the waiting about the availability in the US. In europe you should be able to get one late March.
If you need more specs just ask and I will do the rest :-) And mabye chris can pick in on some questions. They are not on the EF site yet, but I think they will be very soon. You can already find some info about the weight etc in the building thread of Rennie. I'll get you some numbers next weekend. I'll be posting more pictures as the plane is coming together. It's really looking like a 40% is huge. I saw this plane together with the new krill yak, and there is no big difference in the size. The EF Yak has a very light construction, and the DA with BMB tuned pipes will pull it around pretty well I guess. We will see this in the upcoming weeks. It comes for a very low price and with super hardware, like the wing and stab - bags, the "airfoiled" carbon landing gear, ball links etc etc

I finished the yak today... I hope to maiden it tomorrow (if the weather is ok)
The used DA is one from a friend... I'll change this one to the new version of the DA 100 in 2 weeks. More info on this later... I'll be flying the plane with a brand new 12FG 2.4ghz my first 2.4ghz tx. I'll give you full reports after first flights enjoy the pics :-)
