I have a 8711 on the rudder but I'm not really happy with it. All the oter servo's are hitec and those are much better. The JR started shaking around center after the first flight! I guess I will change my rudder set up to hitec very soon.
My understanding is this is caused by a very tight dead band, a good thing. A servo that has a bigger dead band, not so good, won't be as likely to do this.

Yes, I guess this is the problem, but I don't know what you prefere a little bit bigger dead band or a plane full of shaking servo's. And yes in the begin this is only if they are unloaded, but after 50flights they are doing it all the time. And I guess a bunch of shaking servos will not give you a preciser plane.

I had the same problem in my QQ Yak w/ one 8711, I only put the JR 8711 in because after 300 flights on my QQ yak, the two Hitec 5955TG were wore out and I sent them off to be overhauled. I put the JR 8711 in just to satisfy my curiosity. The 8711 shook and it did it during flight, as the tail used to wag on the up lines. I would speculate the 8711, like the 8611, has a little too much gear slop which cause the JR servo's to start '"hunting" for center. 40%er's running two 8711 do not have this problem. I will stick with the Hitecs for now. My 2 cents....

In my 6th flight I came over in a harrier quite high lets say 15m ... I saw my rudder shaking from the ground :s. Ok It's not in normal flight, but wait until you/I did 50 flights my 8425's where shaking all flight long. Ok if it is a 20$ servo, but not a servo of this price. I bought this 1 JR8711 to give them another chance on the servos but sorry NO more JR servos for me.

And I can tell you one thing, right here everybody is flying hitecs right now. And after seeing this I guess this will be the same for years ...
Thats madness a brandnew top spec servo is apparently rubbish? Ive been running 8711s on my 88" with no surface flutter. Its funny. I feel the same way as you but about Good old no frills Hitec My 8711s havent produced any flutter as yet.
My mate had top spec Futaba digis in his 28% wildhare and it shook all surfaces like mad when on the ground. I wouldnt of flown it looking that bad even if it did stop momentarily during flight and under load. Just looked way Dodgy to me. Maybe its luck of the draw with all servo purchaces

Check out my first video with the EF 110" Yak. This is a video of the first time that I did 3Dflight with the yak, First hovers, first torque roll etc
Nothing special, just some basic 3D flying. I still have to make my headers a little bit shorter for max power. And I need a little bit of throttle curve to get the engine stable for hovers and torque.

Soon I'll make a better video, but I guess this is a good teaser ;-)

The event was superb!!!! The weather turned out super. Most of the shots in the video where taken the evening before the event, some of them on the day of the event.

I guess more videos will come very soon! But I didn't had alot of time to take them myself.

I putted some links to picture gallerys on the 3DC website : http://www.3dcollege.be/index.php?op...id=73&Itemid=1
more links to come

Guys, curious on all that are currently flying this airplane. Will this airframe work for someone flying at 4500 feet? This is not in any way a bash on the airplane or EF due to weight, everyone should know this is not your average 100cc airframe due to size. I want this one and am on the list. I have a DA100 and ES pipes ready to go. Just looking for some good honest feedback. I am planning to use primarily for IMAC with some 3d thrown in.

I can't say because I don't have any experience with flying on different altitude right here there are only some small height differences. Maybe somebody else can help.

All I can tell you is mine has more than enough power with cannister setup, but I'm at sea level. I think with the ES pipes you should be fine but the best person to talk to would be Chris Hinson. I know Tim Fulk and Rennie are using the ES pipes so maybe they'll chime in here with opinions also. Good luck.
