Andy, just curious how you will be handling the warranty situation concerning Falkon ignitions. A lot of people are unhappy with those ignitions. I, personally, have two on the shelf, one that I already sent back to Keith only to have him tell me it "seemed to be okay", and another that is NIB and never run, that I categorically refuse to use. Just wondering how you will handle problems with those units.

Thanks

Per the “Owners Manual” the ignition modules are warranted by the ignition manufacturer for one year from the date of purchase by the orginal owner.

Engine Warranty

"BME warrants to the original purchaser of the engine, that the engine is free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 2 years. The ignition system is covered by a separate warranty of 1 year."

TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE;

1. Remove all accessories from engine including muffler(s). BME will not be responsible for any accessories that are left on the engine.

2. Return the engine to BME with your receipt, and a written explanation of the problem.

3. Insure the engine for its full replacement value - we are not responsible for loss or damage caused by shipping.

4. The customer is responsible for all shipping and delivery costs if the problem is deemed not to be covered by warranty.

5. For ignition repairs, return the ignition system to the ignition manufacturer with a copy of the receipt, a written explanation of the problem and $5 to cover shipping and handling.

6. We do not return damaged parts. It helps to reduce the possibility that a damaged part is accidentally used in an engine which could lead to additional damage and/or injury.

However BME is willing to swap out faulty Falkon ignitions that are still under warranty (with original sales receipt for the original owner) for $65 dollars plus shipping and handling.

Thank you,
Andy Snow

Original receipt. . that came with the engine 15 months ago. I guess all the guys who just want to ditch their Falkons because they are such a bad ignition are now officially out of luck. I've had about 15 people ask me about it.

So. . out of curiosity. . just what kind of overlap or long term coverage can BME owners expect for their products purchased when Keith ran BME? Obviously the POS Falkon ignitions are going to make a lot of people mad. What else is going to be "with original receipt"?

Also, will BME be covering the engineering boondoggle design of the reed spacer and reeds on the 115, by offering upgrades to current owners, as well as straightening out the botched carburetor "modifications" that Keith put on engines that only made things worse or did not help at all? Since the 115 is the flagship engine for the company, and there are about 250 of them produced so far, should current owners expect an "upgrade package" to be forthcoming from BME, or will they be forced to pay for new parts to get their engines to run properly and get rid of the dreaded "rollover burble" issue with the 115's that is caused by the very poor inlet design?

I, personally, have one carburetor that is so badly mis-modified by Keith that I really do not want to ever use it on an engine, and the cost of UN modifying it is the same as jsut replacing it. The other two 115 carburetors I own have been dealt with by me, but this one is just a nightmare "3rd needle" modification that makes it impossible to run it in a normal manner.

So I guess you are fine with me losing money becaue of Keith Bakers mistakes, just to be able to fly the engines, right?

Then there is still the matter of repayment for deposits for engines never delivered. Guess I need to go kick in Keiths door and demand my money, both for the deposits and the bad parts I am stuck with.

This ought to get interesting. Too bad Tony is stuck in the middle of it. A statement of responsibility on the BME website would go a long way toward alleviating questions or conflicts with the former owner of BME.

We will honor all warranties that are in place now. You must have the sales receipt and be the orginal owner.

Thanks Andy

All current BME 115 owners will get the redesigned reed block for FREE, eliminating the need for any after market mods. If they want the 3 needle carb too, we will modified their carb or swap them out so long as their carb can be modified.

Thank you,

Andy Snow

Why would anyone want a 3-needle carburetor modification? It's already been proven that they do not work. In fact, the vast majority of the "modifications" that were done to carburetors in the past were totally unnecessary and did nothing to alleviate the running problems. There are several modifications to the WB-25 carburetor that BME never visited, yet prove to substantially help the way things run. Will they be offered as well or will customers still be getting the modifications that do little-nothing to improve things?

When will the new style reed blocks be available, and have they already been proven to alleviate all problems with the BME-115 and that there will be no future problems with longevity, breakage or other issues?

Since so few people keep the sales receipts, I'm sure there will be a lot of people who are actually the original owners who have issues that should be covered under warranty Without serial numbers on each engines, how will you address this?

KrisW, There are always several ways to skin a cat. Either the three needle carb or the redesigned reed block will work. The least expensive way to fix the problem is replacing the reed block. How do you know that the 3 needle carb doesn’t work, since there is only 2 or 3 of these out there and they are all in California.
