Hello Guys-
Firstly....thank you for purchasing our new product! This is the largest airplane ever produced by Great Planes...and we are very excited about it. This is not my project, but please allow me to shed some light regarding the firewall template. There should be a tech-notice/addendum placed in the cowl box located in the wing box. I have attached this PDF in this post. There was a second addendum inserted too. This was regarding the Pilot. Both of these Tech Notices can now be found here- http://www.greatplanes.com/techsuppo...a1290tech.html These issues will be corrected for all future production. We can't wait to hear what you guys think after you get some flights in on the airplane! ![]() cheers- |

I just ordered a 50x1320mm wingtube from DA. They said it was strange as it is so big. They had a very few in stock.

I did some measuring: Engine stand offs are 1.125"; servo half arms are 1.5" and the full arms for the rudder servos are 3"; There are 6 linkage rods at 2.25" (55mm for rudder); 4 rods at 2.5" for ailerons and 2 rods at 3.5"; I measured the wing-tube with dial calipers 50mm dia. 1295mm long
I have given up on a can install, looks like to much work for me as the lower engine box is right in the middle of where the cans would sit. Here is a pic of the forward fuse innards and one of the hatch on top of my 75cc AW Extra Last edited by Sevans16; 03-07-2008 at 11:30 PM. Reason: typos |

Spinner info: it is 4"; the GP supplied spinner is the polished one on the left. Both weighed without center bolt. 4.4oz for the AirWild spinner I bought for my AW. and 6.6oz for the GP. It comes drilled for engine but doesn't have a lightened backplate. You can see the GP spinner is a longer profile.

I wonder what the total weight savings would be if you did a CF wing tube, CF spinner, and switched out the servo tray. It looks nice, but I wonder if a SWB or doing something similar with a piece of airfract light ply might help to take out a little more weight. Just curious.

I'm going to order the CF tube and probably a new spinner. I have a titanium tail wheel but someone posted the one sent is 2oz which is the same as the one I have. Also going to mount 2 rudder servos in the tail push pull and ditch the 3 on the tray. Probably get some light 4.5" wheels which could save about 4oz. I don't mind spending a little extra $$$ to try and keep the weight down. Who knows, it could end up 39lbs and fly like a turd.
