I joined the A123 revolution as well... We'll see how well it works in the Carden with the dual A123's and the AR9100 internal power bus receiver. 2.4 has been flawless for me so far except one of my gliders went in from either a low tranny batt or the servo drawn down brown out... My tranny has a lipo in it and the alarm was going off for low voltage at the time of "brown out"... Straight into the ground, from 500 feet... On a good note, it was a glider not a big bad burly fuely. Since then I've vowed to be over redundant and make sure that if my plane goes in that it is my fault not the signal!!!

Thanks for all the input guys, I am leaning towards the AR9100 and powering it with the Duralite A123 6.6v 2200mah redundant pack. Is this a good set up? AND, does redundant mean there is really two separate packs in one or what? Two power leads? I don't get it........sorry.
Also is 6.6v too high?? They are advertising this set up as not needing a regulator but 6.6 seams a little high??
Why would one choose the Lithium Manganese with a regulator over the A123 set up? There doesn't seam to be to much weight difference or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Chop,

You are better off just running the A123's into the 9100, forget the added weight of the regs and manganese batts. You will be fine at 6.6, in fact I used to run my Fromeco's above 6v and I ran a raw Li Ion into the AR7000 for the throttle servo with no issues at 8.whatever volts, but I don't recommend that as the servos aren't designed to handle that much voltage.

That would be an ideal pack for this plane. It is redundant because it is a 2S2P configuration - basically, two 2S packs tied together. If one of the @s packs should fail, you'd still get power from the remaining pack. And 6.6V is perfect for the servos.

Unless one pack has an internal short. Tied together by wiring alone will cause the other one to short also. That is why a bat share or power expander or receiver with a batshare function is a good idea.

Flynz4me,
Remember: Patience is a virtue.......... Now that we have that out of the way, where's the friggin' YAK?
I've taken a look in my mirror a minute ago and my butt is still there and lookin' pretty lonely......... Since it's pretty lonely looking, one can only come to the conclusion that it is NOT up to ANYWHERE with YAK's!!!

I saw a thread started by Steve Kauluf about the new Futaba 10C radios that were being shipped. He stated the they were being loaded into an airliner......... What the heck is wrong with THIS picture!!???
I'll tell ya what's wrong!!!!!!! Great Planes is using modern airliners, people!!! Horizon is using the "slow boat from China method." I now know what the hold up has been. And to think........ I swam out the the "slow boat from China" to re-fuel the Evinrude TWICE in an effort to expedite things!! LOL!

You twice and me once... Lesson learned, the slow boat won't run on AVGas!!! The engines broke down and the ship ran ashore. Thanks to some islanders they just happened to be QC professionals so why the engines were getting fixed they took the liberty of inspecting each and everyone of our Yaks. All good to go except they had to row parts out to the island from across the sea and then they brought the wrong wrench and had to approve the dumping of the AVGas but first they had to provide an MSDS sheet on the compounds contained within the AVGas, thus the delay. It was all my fault.

The JR921 doesn't have an internal power bus, so the 9100 with it's smoking patches is far superior!!
