Hey Scott talking to Mike probaly would be the same as talking to the rep at horizon. I dont know if he will be there or not. Im starting think that horizon is going to give carden a bad name. I hope the weather holds out for this weekend. My wife and I are heading over on Friday and will be there on Saturday. If anybody from horizon is there I think they will be getting a piece of my mind.

Scott,
Talking to Mike at the XFC? Hmmmmmmmmm........... Let me put this into perspective: Ya ever been to the field and pop a glow plug or run out of fuel? The day is early and you don't really want to go home but darn it, you just don't have the fuel or glow plug! Well, your buddy steps up and says here ya go..... You fly all day, have a great time. You go home. A few weeks later you go to the field and you run into your buddy that loaned you the stuff. You forgot to bring him the stuff to replace what he loaned you......... "I'll bring it next time!" Well he has that look on his face and you feel kinda bad. You mean well but it slipped your mind. How do you think you'll do in remembering to bring him his stuff the next time you head to the field? Will you just avoid going to the field if you didn't get his stuff for him? Ya might want to make a special effort to remember to pay your buddy back and get in his good graces again! Then you can feel good about showing up at the field after you REMEMBER to do something you should! Well......... I really can't remember a company stringing customers along by announcing something and advertising it pretty heavily and then dangling the carrot as in this case. I know Mike or anybody else in a position like his wants to hear us gripe at him at the XFC...........Not really, huh? Give you a case in point: Great Planes / Tower came out with the big Pitts ARF about 6 or 7 years ago. Boy howdy, I wanted one of these babies! I turned on the computer and opened my magazine at approximately the same time and by golly, I even went to the the LHS and saw the thing on the shelf that day! There was no hype, no pre-orders, no BS! I think that distributors have taken this stance in order to feel out the market and see how much they need to order. If you telegraph your punch like this, people are going to get antsy. Then they are going to get really annoyed. Then I think the next step is either to get PO'd or just go get something else and then badmouth you all the while. In defense of the folks trying to bring all these goodies to us, THEY are the one sticking their necks out with THEIR money. They really need to get a head count so they can get a grip on what number to give the builders over in China. (I know China ain't the only place our ARF's are coming from......... It's just convenient to call it all "China" when referring to the place where our toys come from!) I guess this would be a good place to vent but it's probably a good place to constructively come up with something to steer the distributors like Horizon, Great Planes, etc. in a direction where they can get their head count, remain profitable, and still provide us with the toys we want! I've never met Mike McConnville. Never met Don Anderson. Bill Hempel either. I know them by their presence in print ads and see the videos of them at events. You can't help but like them and feel like you KNOW them by seeing them here on FG. Some of us are luckier than others by personally knowing them and getting to meet them at the various events. While they appear to be the fun loving jovial guys we all know, the have a hell of a job doing what they do..... They fly toy airplanes for a living, promote the product they sell and we see them at events we just WISH we could attend. The flip side of the coin is that they work their butts off to design and produce the product we fly. The added difficulty they face is that they have to send countless bazillions of dollars to the other side of the world sight unseen many times and then get product back here to the real world for us to buy. Oh yeah........... They have to get it here to the States so that us stampeding masses of modelers that are looking at their watches and calendars have it just in time for a contest or event or whatever. God help them if a hiccup or a glitch is thrown into the works! Well, with all that said, Lets figure out how we help them help us. I know I've been one of the head instigators on here and I always try to inject humor to stop the fanning of the flames. I'm just as bad as any of us......... maybe worse! Well, okay. SCOTT is the worst!!! Maybe JUVA?? So............... What to we do? (And just for the record: Where's my friggin' YAK!!!!! LOL!) WT Last edited by WangoTango; 06-12-2008 at 07:24 PM. |

WT your essay and creative writing skills are much improved!! If this were class I'd give you an A, because no matter how LONG your post are they entertain and hook you in. Good work, few writers have that ability to flow like you do.
I'm not sour grapes about not having the Carden for the Olympia IMAC, just disappointed. I mean if you at work had told your boss; BOSS I'll have that new printhead designed and on the bench, mmmmm, middle May... Middle of June you're wondering why you are standing in the unemployment line... I mean what kind of example does Horizon set for the younger folks here on the Giants??? Slipping your deadlines is fine, people will understand... No prob... PPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Thinking of ordering that EF Yak, if I didn't want the Carden SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. Thus I'm forced to wait... STILL!!!! |
