Mike, so I take it your going for the Carden YAK too; I've previously considered the GP SU-31 but obviously the Carden YAK seriously outclasses it and most anything else in the 25-27% class. I figure anything else would be a detour and either way I'd end up with the carden yak anyway.

mflander, that's an excellent suggestion. Your right, I always check out the mechanical points but typically take for granted the airframe integrity. Thanks for the pointer.. Roger

mflander, BTW: my wife made a deal with me; as long as I don't limit her shoes and shoe shopping, she doesn't limit my flying and plane shopping :P

Yes I'm on the Carden Yak victim - I mean backorder - list. I was also looking at the GP Su31 but they gave it a a one-piece wing!!! Fools. No idea how many they're selling. 2 club-mates have GP Yaks and they love them.

I wanted something with ~1400 to 1500 sq inch wing area and the Carden Yak is pretty much the only thing in that class I could get from the LHS. Shipping planes to me in Canada from Somenzini or 3D hobbyshops or AirWild etc was going to add about 50% to the list price. Fugedaboudit.

I'm really looking forward to my second flight on the Yak - if you know what I mean.

Ya, the size and transport factor doesn't bother me so much but the flipping it upside down to setup at the local flying field seems like it would be a real hastle. That's actually the only reason I didn't jump on it because my LHS does have a SU-31 and the GP SU-26mm in stock. Obviously I have to wait for the Carden but the temptation of those other kits glaring at me everytime I walk in is tough. I've held out this long so I think I'm going to make it

Speaking of the SU-31 the Realflight Expansion pack 5 came out this week; the GP SU-31 flys really nice on it! To bad it won't run on G3.5

I would probably go as far as to say the Carden outclasses EVERYTHING in the 25-27%... What else is there in this size???

Well if we were talking true Carden I'd guess nothing; but the jury is still out on the H9/Carden since no one's actually gotten one yet. Without any further info yet it seems like the Aeroworks 50cc YAK would be a runner up

I think the only issue there is that the Aeroworks looks like it is built heavier... And the Carden is claiming 16.5lb which is really lite for a 50... Course I just read that the Aeroworks could be built to 16.75 so ehhhh....??? Jury is out till my Carden shows it pretty face... Oh Oh also with the Carden, no pretty model necessary, but if you need one here you go...

Also, 4 more inches and 30 more squares might edge out the aeroworks Yak... We'll see, it is kind of like comparing the Mercedes Benz designed Dodge Built Sprinter to the Eurovan from V dub...
