Okay fellas,
Back to business as usual....... I just polished my new 4 inch spinner last night. I felt like the 3 1/2" just wasn't gonna cut it. (Sidewalk mackerel? What do you have to go with that? Maybe some 12X pasta?) I saw where somebody was going to try an 80xi because of high altitude? Must be WAY high up there! I'm hoping this thing comes in soon. Might be going through a change of address...... I have a lease that's about to get out of hand, price wise. Not quite ready to buy again unless there is a place with runway possibilities! Hmmmmmmmm....... Picture this: A new YAK sitting next to good ol' CAP out on a lush green runway, blue skies and the wind right down the center stripe. (POOF!) Damn! Back to work! WT |

hey scott it was sweet seeing the two yacks side by side @ the nall.. i did some math 3w55 weight 4.30 lbs.@6hp and the 3w 80 xi weight 5.05 lbs @8.1 hp .. the 55 swings a 22 to a 24 x 10 prop and the 80 xi swings 24 to a 26x10 prop also it swings a 3 blad 24 x10 very nice .. so if it will fit in the cowl you would get 2.1 more hp for .75 lbs more weight ... no tundra tires !! just an ass kicking yack on steroids.. i live @4500 feet just think what it would be like at 500 feet.. 2.1 hp x .75 lbs = one hell of a ride yehawwwww.... garret

what you guys think about the Rudder Servo?
if you won't use the pull-pull option and you will use the back Rudder Servo option, after some flights and "load" on the Rudder on 3D it's looks like it can kill the Servo ?! what you think? it's same load as on pull-pull big servo arm?? |

I don't care for pull pull setups unless there is no choice. I will be using a single 8711 on an A123 battery so I don't think there will be a loading problem. I don't see a rear monted rudder servo as been any different than a one servo aileron or elevator surface.
Also, going with Peter Goldsmith's recommendations on linkage geometry and initial setup will be with a 1.25 inch servo arm on the rudder instead if the 1.5 called for in the manual. I don't fly hard 3D, mostly just flying around doing fun stuff. I will be setting things up on the conservative side and sneak up on the heavier 3D stuff in time with longer servo arms. Scott |

another thing...
on the sample movie (from H9/Horizon website) you can see the Rudder servo is installed at the tail.. and not Pull-Pull... what Engine they used there?? (i want to know if it was DA-50, so i'll know for CG i need to install it on tail.. and i should order now another Servo arm ...) i think the choise where to install the Rudder Servo is depend on CG problems, right? one thing is shure.. it's much more simple to install the Rudder servo on the tail then the Pull-Pull.. but.. we will know CG issue only after we will start to built this amazing plane... There are two prototypes that I know of and both run the DA-50. One with a Pitts muffler and the other with a canister. I think the one with the canister has the rudder servo mounted in the middle with pull-pull and balanced withe the batteries somewhere close to the fuel tank. The other one with the rudder servo in the tail has all the batteries up front in the engine box. That's the one with the Pitts muffler. Dennis told me at Toledo he liked the rear mounted rudder servo best and with the lighter pits muffler up front the balance is made with everything as far forward as possible. So, you can mount the rudder servo (8711) in the back, stock or Pitts muffler and batteries way forward to start so you can balance as you need.

OK.. Thanks, i think i'll go for the Servo with the PullPull system.. i don't like to put the system Batterys (2 cell Lion x 2) on the engine box..

Anybody want my neighbor's two lamp boxes that were on my front porch, making me think my YAK had arrived?? (Still steamed over that one!!)
I read where 12X's were starting to ship in the next day or two..... With that little bit of news reported, they probably are working to the back end of the slow boat from China to unload the YAKS! (Now wait a minute...... You don't think them knot heads used TWO slow boats from China, do ya??) PERISH THE THOUGHT!! I know..... Two boats for safety but gee whiz!! WT
