mmm another question..
as i see this cowl don't have any place to make holes for cooling the engine..
i ment here compare to SD-Model cowl that's have square box under the cowl that you can make and design holes for the hot air to get out...
as i see here the hot air (on this pic) don't have a place to get out.. it's not a risk for engine cut?
it's can be look ugly to start cutting this cowl for hot air flow.. no??
and if some of us going to use the Stock DA Muffler.. it will get hotter inside this cowl...

Juvaknin,
I'm thinking that a simple removal of cowling around the cylinder head and just slightly behind the head will allow for proper cooling. You're not going to notice it when it's flying and your engine will thank you.

Wow! You guys are really exited about this one...Thats ok I am too. Sorry for not posting earlier, my computer died and I am having to use someone elses so it is hard for me to get updates to you guys quickly. The only part about this update tha sucks is the fact that I don't have it yet, thanks to FedEx. It should have been here Friday but it didn't show up, and they don't deliver on Sat. So hopefully Tuesday will be a good day. I am going to keep this one (sorry Scott) I need it for the Triple Creek 3-D event.

Ninja Pilot has a chinese buddy that works at the factory and risked not being able to feed his family to ship Ninja a plane for a measly 100 bucks. Man I wish I knew the number to the factory!!! Darnit...

Ooooops here goes the BS flag again!!! It is getting deeper. June 5th guys c'mon... It isn't that far away.

Take a look at the video that is posted on Horizon's site under "media" and you can see how the cowl needs to be cut for cooling. It's almost outlined by the flames on the bottom side as a guide...

Juva,Scott,
I'm thinking Clint is in severe denial about this bird...... Probably got that way due to the severe stress of waiting for the YAK. Either that, or he has a DIRECT connection with some Chinese folks at the factory! LOL!
FEDEX ain't the one that's dragging on this one. I'm suggesting a sit-down with Dr. Phil for him to discuss his childhood and how he interacted with his Mother and Father. If that's not possible, I suggest he takes that sick computer in to remove the virus it has. (Geek Squad can find the code that's telling them that Horizon has shipped something they don't have!) Anyway........... The rest of us are going to get on here the minute we REALLY get ours and do a mass build thread. See ya'll in July when we all get the YAKs finished!

With the wide open front end of the Yak cowl and that same opening in the bottom as seen in that video should be more than adequate cooling no matter what muffler or canister is used. In my experience with past planes, I've run much more restrictive setups without a problem with cooling. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their opinion. I will be running the stock muffler on mine with the past noted opening and wont be giving it a second thought, I'll be happy with it here in 90 + degree summers.

Now wait a minute...My source informed me that it left Horizon already. Now I am hearing from this forum that it is not possible...Hmmmm. If this is true it is not to my knowlege. I have never been one to talk s!*# about anything I was getting so please don't asume I am BS talker. If it is true and my source is wrong about the delivery than I am going to have some very strong words with that individual, and I apologize for creating an uproar.

Cooling & baffling . . . . This is one of the better threads on this topic and suggests that baffling the Yak cowl will really benefit any engine: http://prme.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148 & http://www.mini-iac.se/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=277

Makes me wonder why so very few round cowls are baffled though. (It's baffling)

Mike,

Thanks for sharing that info, I didn't do this on my last Yak but will try this on the Evolution 58 I'll be putting in the Carden.
