All this talk of monokote got me workin on my new OMP 67inch Fusion 3DX. First of all I would like to note I have no monokote experience. Due to the 80's color scheme I chose to go with the all white OMP Fusion.
Ok, first lesson I learned, UlTRACOTE and MONOKOTE are two different things. After cutting two rolls of Ultracote and trying to stickit to my plane with windex, 24 hrs later I relized this is not going to work. Now I have my supplies, Monokote, windex papertowels, a sharpie, and a set of new razor blades. After cutting out the shapes and pealing the backer I placed each piece of monokote on the plane and made small marks on the plane with my sharpie for position. Then going one plane part at a time I sprayed the plane part and the monokote with windex and positioned the graphic on the plane. At this point it is very slippery take your credit card smooth out one end of the graphic, this will help keep it in place while you work the rest of the windex out. Set aside 24 hours and let dry. After the plane is dry take monokote trim solvant on a q-tip go around the edges this really seals up the edges. I'm posting pic's of my first attempt should be a very visable plane. |
