Hey Folks... I'm glad that everyone is as impressed as I've been with my DA85 / KS1090 !!

I've got about 7 gallons through mine now and it's tweaked out perfectly. I've never had a deadstick, she runs at 157°F (perfect according to DA) and there is no peakiness. Oh, and consistently spinning 6680rpm on a Mej 28x10.... WOW!!

I agree about the sound... uber-cool, especially at idle... sounds like a street bike idling!!

My big 35% Aerotech Yak comes in at 28.9lbs with a full tank of fuel... it hovers this plane at 1/2 thottle and vertical climbout is ballistic!!

Cheers

Trevor

After two flights with the new 85 and KS 1090 I can't see ever going back to a wrap around. The power is incredible. I was only able to get in a couple of flights so I have some more playing around to do but this is an awsome combo. I did some brief hovering and as everyone running this combo said. There is no peakiness or hesitation in transition at all. Sprice, thanks for talking me into this setup
Guys, I am super happy that you both love your setups. Were are you on the needles? Try 1.5 high (factory setting) and 1 low. Sired, don't worry about bringing down the idle, mine has never quit on me. Told you that your buddy with the CS would be jealous

DB - you were the hardest to convince but I am glad you have seen that this setup has no peakiness. It really is odd that there is finally such a thing as a drop in pipe setup (as pipes are renowned for being finicky), but I am not complaining It is simple, reliable, potent and has awesome transition with no peakiness.

DB / Sired - be sure to let DA know about your success with the KS1090.

Please also take some tach readings next time out. Bet is 6450 with the Mej 28x10.

Well i joined the leaking gasket club, so i took the jug off and made a gasket myself. i bought some felpro gasket material and started carving, its thicker than the stock one by 3x at least, so im going to lose some stroke. but i do believe its going to hold.
im going to run regular gas now, instead of premium to make up for the compression loss. . i believe that the gasket DA is using is too thin, they have a thin ridge around the top of the crankcase machined in to seal the area into the gasket but it cuts through when torqued to spec, creating a leak at the the "T" where the crank halves meet and the jug, ill post results later

Sired - I have run regular gas since day one.

How bad was the leak? I haven't noticed any leaking on mine.

What sort of RPMS are you getting?

1.5 both high and low are the starting points for tuning the engine according to the manual. I will put a copy of the manual in my truck for you.

Sired - I don;t think you should be running the 25x12 on the setup especially for break in. The DA manual calls for higher break in rpms.

Run the 28x10, with needles at 1 turn low and 1.5 high. Let me know your readings then. You should be at 6400+ unless pulling the head did something.

CNG - 1.5 turns on high and low is factory.

The leak was pretty bad, and the 3 blade was just curiosity getting the best of us.

Wow DB, that's great! I actually tached 6350 on a 27B Vess vs 6450 on the Mej 28x10 first time out which was surprising, so you should get around 6500 on the 28x10 Mej. My pullout was a lot better with the Mej and spoolup was same. Hovering has a little more gyroscopic effect with the Mej. The Mej is way quieter than the Vess.
