khedge,
I started off with a 26A Vess something like 6550 on the 1st run and then up to about 6850 on a JTEC muffler. I have bolted on a 28 x 10 Mejzlik and a 27A in the backyard. The 28 did 6120 and the Vess did 5750. I did not mess with the needles as I really was just curious as heck to what it would turn in the backyard. I could not believe the Vess dropped the RPM like it did. Seem as I had recalled someone saying about 6400-6660 on that 27A deal. I have a BME-111 that pull that 28 x 10 Mejzlik about 100 more then the 85 so the 85 def is a no joke deal. I see if you let her breath on a pipe you are really jaming. I have my 85 on a H-9 Cap so no mods on my end to run a can or pipe. I am light on the wheels being at 21.5 lbs with c/fiber goodies. I hear the 27A still flies the planes great in the air. I will try my 27A in a month of less to see how it does. I have bolted the 28 x 10 on the bmerrr and don't plan to take that off to try to fly on the 85. I do like how smooth this 85 runs seem we don't hearing the fighting on the net anymore about how this 85 will not be smooth as a twin when it come out lol.......... |

so do you think it would be a good option to get the std mej 27*10? It seems like the 85 will turn it well on the large jtec like I have. |

i think the 27 x 10 will work i just read long ago that the RPM was so close on the 27 and 28" Mejlik. Everyone who ran both prefered the 28". You know the DA manual just says to prop for over 6200 during the break in period. For me is was just so down in RPM since I can make that 26A hollar on the ground the last 1k of the RPM
. I have seen the old 3W-100 only swing a 27 x 10 Menz at 5700 and this did not present any power issues in the air on a 25 lbs bird (Ohio Cap). I bet mine would be quieter in the air with a 27 x 10 as apposed to the 26A. I think a few flyers are loving the 26B Vess. I think it really going to come down to what bird and weight, location and all of that stuff to get what works best for each person needs, but if i can get the rpm I did on a 28 x 10 a 27" Mejzlik should be sweet.....

well in that case I will order the std 27*10 mej, if it turns like 6200 that is fine with me. My edge weighs about 24 lbs but before I think it was about 27 or pounds. The 85 didn't mine, I still had unlimited vertical. Now with all the weight I took out it probably weighs 22 or23 pounds dry. Do you think 4 gallons is enough for break-in? I want to switch to Bel-ray after I run this last gallon thru my motor then call da and get that 27*10 mej. I think this prop would be great for 3d and imac. Thanks for the help |

khedge, I would talk to DA, but it sounds like the 27x10TH thin blade is a better choice for the 85 on a stock muffler, just my .02

This is a smooth powerful engine, you will enjoy it Henna_Ojisan. what plane is it going in? That ks1090 pipe add a serious power boost to the da-85.

I just finished mounting mine (the one that gave me those performance #'s below) into a 35% Aerotech Yak Build.... the pipe and header works out to just over 36" long and looks awesome in the 3-sided tunnel. All finished an balanced, my Yak with DA85 and KS-1090 Pipe comes in at 28.4 lbs... DA tells me that the DA85 on the pipe will run this 28lb set-up crazy!! Good luck with the DA85... you'll never look back with the tuned pipe!!! Cheers Trevor |

Imagine.. an 85cc engine that produces static RPM #'s significantly beyond a stock DA100 and almost equal to a 3W106CS with simplicity, less cost and less weight... WOW!! |
