Thanks, I talked to DA and they said to get the thin blade, really don't prop size to get. I mostly will be flying IMAC with some 3d flying. Currently running a mej 26*10

This is a smooth powerful engine, you will enjoy it Henna_Ojisan. what plane is it going in? That ks1090 pipe add a serious power boost to the da-85.

Shaun... that's great news that you've got a combo on it's way!!

I just finished mounting mine (the one that gave me those performance #'s below) into a 35% Aerotech Yak Build.... the pipe and header works out to just over 36" long and looks awesome in the 3-sided tunnel.

All finished an balanced, my Yak with DA85 and KS-1090 Pipe comes in at 28.4 lbs... DA tells me that the DA85 on the pipe will run this 28lb set-up crazy!!

Good luck with the DA85... you'll never look back with the tuned pipe!!!

Cheers

Will see if I can wedge this into a 35% Extra - may have to tear into the belly to rework some formers, but I'm willing to do it if the results are this good. This will be my first tuned pipe so it will be interesting. Hoping I can get it dialed in and it's not too peaky - I guess it'll force me fly more, what a bummer - wifey will just have to understand...

I heard that, I want to get a plane that can talk a pipe now, turn a mej 28*10 is crazy. I have large pitts muffler and it makes a lot of power, but on a pipe. 2 words THROTTLE MANAGEMENT

Yep... throttle management will be key!!

Imagine.. an 85cc engine that produces static RPM #'s significantly beyond a stock DA100 and almost equal to a 3W106CS with simplicity, less cost and less weight... WOW!!

Something interesting I got from Chris in a PM

"For comparison, a DA100 on cannister mufflers will turn a mejzlik 28x10 at 6200-6300rpm. A DA100 on pipes will swing a 28x10 at 6500rpm on a good day. The 85 will turn a 28x10 at 6500 on a tuned pipe. This is because the porting on the motor has been designed for getting the most power out of a tuned pipe. So on a stock or cannister muffler the 85 will only turn a 26x10 at 6500. But it comes to life on a pipe.
Hope this helps!
Chris B."
