Here is a pic of mine, DOD should have video shortly of it in action.
I have the new DA170, but you need to know that we lightened my airframe and got it down to 36lbs., so power is not an issue. But...IMO, I still think that if you take caution in how you assemble and choose your equipment, you can keep it fairly lighter than 44lbs. and it will be great w/the 170. Check out my thread and maybe you can use some info to help keep some of the weight gremlins out.

Hady, I have a DA 170 on my 40% TT Yak. Pull out is excellent. This motor is a great match for this airplane. Flew mine on a DA 150.....this 170 is a different animal. Completely transormed my Yak into a diffent airplane. As far as I am concerned, this motor is a home run in these heavier 40-45% airframes.

I flew my 40% yak last sunday for the first time with a 3W 170. This is a excelent combo.
My airplane came out at 47 lbs with 3w-170 on cannisters, carbon wing tubes and no spinner.
It is a little tail heavy so I might put the spinner on.
my set up is 3 hitec 5955 on each wing and 2 jr 8711 on each elevator and 3 8711 on the rudder using a air wild 4 servo tray . I also installed a sullivans smoke pump with a 32 oz tank. I have two fromeco 5200 mh li-ion using a smart-fly EQ 10 (highly recommended ,very easy to program all servos)
Put 4 more flights on her yesterday. This plane is awsome!!!
She floats like a butterfly and strings like a bee.

That is fairly light considering all of the extra weight in the equipment you have.
I am using Futaba 9156's all @, 2 on each aileron, 1 on each elevator, 2 on rudder in the tail push-pull, 48oz. tea bottle for fuel tank, 2 Futaba 6014 rx's, SmartFly turbo reg with 2 Flightpower 2500mah li-Po's set at 6.5v, Fromeco 2600mah for ignition, thats it nothing else but the basics needed to fly.
If you dont want the spinner, you can move your engine out a bit, instead of adding weight to the front. I must say that it appears that the latest run of these Yaks have been lighter than the earlier ones.

Seen Mike " The AVAITOR" Fly his Yak last week-end. It really does float like a butterfly. I believe we weight it full of fuel, and smoke oil at 51 lbs. Hovers below 1/3 throttle, and pulls -out ,is ballistic , don,t worry about the weight, the wing loading is excellant. Mikes a weight concience guy and is contesting my scales, but performance is beyond belief. This guy flies the living crap out his planes, and does things I thought impossable. 30 + years experance really shows. Also don,t worry about spare parts as I can say first hand that Rocky will get you what you need. ACE HOBBIES DISTRIBTORES " thunder tiger" isn,t gonna do anything halfa$$. They been around along time, and they fly what they sell. Wylie Runey "RUTNBUC" Check out MIKE AT www.carolinaskydancers.com Warning make sure the wife ain,t looking over your shoulder. Thanks Rocky for bring us a great product. I have the 37.5% yak 3W 150 smoke at 40 lbs. two servos per surface 3 on rudder. Carbonfiber tubes standard langing gear. Gotta go do some stinging.

You will get your need parts, a little later than sooner, but they will be avaible. Just some growing pains, supply and demand. I needed wings and Rocky got them for me, Took some time. You just gotta be nice. You know Ace hasn,t had the TOC planes very long and a one point NOBODY was getting anything out of China. Been a big push to get planes in country, and now parts.
