Hi dear friends!
I am from Bulgaria. I have a Great Planes Yak-54 25% with a Fuji-Imvac 50 EIS engine. ![]() I went flying yesterday and unfortunately there was some wind which caused a very low airspeed landing. The plane touched down hardly and the main landing gear broke. The dural gear elements are OK, but the in side wooden elements broke. I noticed it is made terribly, because the plate is very light not securely made. So now I am pretty sad. Can you suggest me something to do? have any body encountered such problem and what was his solution. The bad thing is that Great Planes didn't make it secure and the whole gear construction consist of 2 elements and when landing harder they just squash the wooden joint. I don't have photos at this moment, but I'll put some when I go to my villa where the plane is located. I plane to make a new wooden plate, put a lot of epoxy to make it strong. Also I ended up with the decision to put a tense hawser between the 2 landing gear elements so they could be more stable when landing harder and they don't straddle. Please give you r experience, even if it's with other planes!
