Hello there ,
can someone help me with the installation of the retracts in the scale position ? i have the kit and the retracts from Barton (140° ) but I need some drawings with angles to install them . Also an outline from the strut would help . Maybe there are some drawings available from similar kits (KT aviation , Hostetler ) that were used in the 100 " class ? thanks , Bruno . |

Are yiou still working on this? I bought the Hosteller Plans to use for built up wings instead of foam core. If you are interested I can take a phot of the area in question and upload it here.
If you ahve finished your IV post a pic or two or if you are in the buld still, post what you ahve. Chasman |

I have one also with the Gene Barton Retracts installed, finally finshed it up about a year ago. Think I still have the templates of what I did to install them. I'll look and see what I got.

Here are some pictures of the gear installation, kind of hard to see. One pic is the patterns of the retract box and the fuse side stiffners that support the retract box.

I am curious. I used to race giant scale. Ihave a lancair kit, glass-foam-canopy-retracts, span 100". I bought all of this back after the second Madera race and would like to sell it. Any offers! More than a $1200.00 in it. Will take any reasonable offer.

If I remember right there was a guy named York Zenter from CA, I think he had alot to do with the fuse design, not sure if he had anything to do with the molds.

I'll see if I can get a picture, it is hanging from the ceiling right now. I used a standard "Spring Air" firewall mount nose wheel retract, nothing special in the install.

Can you comment on the build? I just finished my Flair Stearman - just in time to see it sit until flying season 2012 :-). I am thinking I want to begin on the Lancair. I have both the obiechee foamcore wings and I had a full kit cut so I could use a builtup wing instead. I have never done a foamcore wing and I don't thing this plane is the one to start on. So I took the familiar route - built up style... If you have any photos of the build, notes and challenges you went through on the build could be helpful to me and other Lancair builders. Great plane not many built from what I can tell. I have a OS FF320 Pegasus I a thinig of using as a powerplant, I have not ruled out a ZDZ 80 twin or larger either. Thanks in advance! Chas |
