Default Kiwi's XPS test results are up.

Gents,

This testing has been harder to do than mating elephants and I understand why most others ducked for cover when we bandied this task around.

I have a video coming up in a few minutes that is a video screen capture. Its not as clear as I would have liked but you an see the tests are fair and no funny stuff going on.

Sorry if I prattle on too much an stumble for words sometimes in the video but I am trying to explain step by step every move I made.

What is the long and short of this.

Well XPS just does not channel hop. I tried every thing I know using variable signal sources, staggered signal transmissions, raised the noise floor in increments. Guys there is no way I can make it skip and I seriously doubt that it can or ever has been able to.

Does that make it a bad system. Well what I will say is the system is only 50% as secure as SPEKTRUM. It has no inherent ability to get out of trouble.

Is it safe?? Likely in small park flyers and the likes hat are flown away from the bigger fields.

I would not run it in any of my planes regardless. Both FASST and SPEKTRUM are at least 100% more secure at a minimum.

There will be more tests this week on SPEKTRUM and FASST and ASSAN.

The XPS test was first because that was what started this whole debate.

Hope you can see the results OK guys.

Thanks Kiwi , there has been far to much guessing with this subject .
To sit and listen to the penut gallery express opinion's on the worth
or lack of with 2.4 has made me cringe ar times and I am glad that
you have gone to trouble to back up what a lot of people have suspected .

Also thanks for pointing out the problem with voltage , I thought I was being
nuts . Early on I had a moment with my Spektrum and I suspected
it may of been the TX batts so from then on I would never fly below 9.9V .
looks like there was something in that .

Any way good job and we do appreciate all your effort .

Stu

It's too bad a lot of people got suckered into the XPS system , believing the hype. I WAS rooting for XPS to win over the big guys...Davis vs. Goliaths....but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak.

Good Job Kiwi, this hobby needs de-bunkers and mythbusters. A lot of balsa could be saved.

Thanks for the effort Kiwi. As you were adding the noise etc were you watching if XPS went into failsafe? Jim may argue that its not programmed to skip until it starts dropping packets.

YLF,

The whole intention was to force it to channel hop. XPS goes into fail safe when swamped, thats been proved.

The whole intention in that test was purely to load up the noise until it hopped a channel or two.

If it had gone into failsafe it would mean your locked out and your in for some community service work. I absolutely did not want it to go into failsafe. I wanted it to not go in and move to a cleaner channel of which I had eight or nine available to it.
