I had 15 Bergs for a few years until I went 2.4. I remember only one minor glitch.

Just remember this conversation when dissing a particular 2.4Ghz system or whatever.
I've seen more people hike to recover plane or pieces of plane due to flying Bergs than any other
Rx, ( 72Mhz, 6m, 2.4Ghz.. you name it). Illustrates a point I've made here before.
Just because one person has had all good experiences so far, does not invalidate the
fact that someone else has had some or all bad experiences, nor prove that the technology
is all good, or all bad. It has to be put in the proper context.

Were you flying FM or PCM before?

What receivers were you using?

Kiwi,

Thanks for all of the effort that you have put into this project. I will be taking my WiSpy 3.0 to a big electric (SEFF) event in Early May and hope to capture what is happening with the band saturated with many 2.4 systems by different manufacturers running at the same time. I'll be sure to share it with you.

Regards, Bill

Bill,

That will be great to see and I will have my setup at the Nall this year to do the same. They have made it even better by having the 3D field purely 2.4 Ghz so I hope to get some really good information from that event as well.

There is talk here that 2.4 has more latency than 72mhz FM. That makes sense to me, and the quicker "feel" could be explained by any number of things such as placebo effect (unlikely, I trust you guys ), but one thing I noticed when I flew a friend's 2.4 airplane was when I put the sticks at extreme positions (on the ground) and let them spring back to neutral, the surfaces would jitter in time with the sticks. This was with standard servos on a DX-7.

I don't think that this is a symptom of reduced latency (because if there was a lot of latency, the surfaces would simply jitter at a phase shift) but maybe higher bandwidth? In any case, the plane was a Telemaster, so I couldn't tell any difference in the air. However, I did fly a 2.6 C-ARF Yak on Spektrum, and couldn't tell much of a difference (although it was the first time I'd flown that plane, so I didn't really have a benchmark), but the owner had dialed in a lot of expo.

Also, with Bergs, how much latency are we talking about here? I had a tricky time getting used to flying my 3Delight with one, but just figured it was a result of the plane being so small and me being used to larger stuff. I had trouble staying on top of it in a torque roll. But I also didn't have a benchmark for that, either.

If you're flying an older Berg you'll really notice the difference if you switch to a dumb FM receiver.

No, this is one of the Castle-versions, much less latency than the old ones.
