Thanks for your efforts, Kiwi.

I understand you've been pulling your hair out trying to make this thing hop. I apologize if you explained this, but I don't remember it if you did. Did you try, at any point, raising the noise level and then try dropping it again? So the signal to the receiver was gradually lost, then regained, then lost and regained again over and over.

Thanks ! Personally your tests proved to ME that XPS doesn't hop even IF it were designed to do so which I find questionable. Now on the other systems I'd like to see how robust they are before lockout.

And do I understand correctly that JR and Spektrum are the same in this regard?

Again thanks for all your effort I'm one that thinks 2.4 is the greatest thing since control line ( if it works at my field ! ).

Kiwi,
Thanks for all the effort.

Also thanks for pointing out what you have observed in the voltage... since you seemed to mention (in your video) of certain 9 volts, I assume you are refering to the Tx battery, correct? If so, then this is the first time (at least for me) to hear. Most of the time, it is the Rx battery voltage that had been always discussed. So, even the Tx module is also getting sensitive to voltage drop.

So based on your observations while doing all these tests, how low is the safest we can go with, say for example, FASST modules?

Edit: Sorry for asking all these additional questions... your answers, of course are optional but would highly appreciate any informations you can share.

Thanks,
Rico.

I will be anxious to see if XPS holds on longer before lock out than the others?

Makes me glad I got rid of my XPS equipment. I went with them because it was avaiable before the others and I could fly. I was having problems before. I tested it in a smaller plane and it went well so I put it in my gasser. Needless to say, my gasser had a run in with the ground doing a go around.

Can't wait to see the other systems succeed or fail as well in the same test scenario.

Concerning low voltage in the TX: A german user tested his 7C Fasst system:

http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showp...7&postcount=50

8.5V: TX starts beeping.
4V: Module stops transmitting, LEDs go out.
3V: Display goes blank, TX stops beeping.
1.5V: red LED on TX goes out.
0V: nothing happens

Now Battery is slowly recharged, still connected to TX:

3V: display comes to life, TX beeps
4.5V TX starts transmitting again, and RX LED changes from red to green.

So everything above 5V should be pretty safe...

That is why I'm an XPS fan, Futaba just gives up at 0V . . . .

I find this very interesting ! It never occured to me to fly a Transmitter below 9.6 volts. I always gave it a bump with a field charger. Is this not needed ? What is the voltage that most get nervous with ?

Kiwi,

Thanks for taking the time to do the research and to post it. Probably the biggest asset of the internet is the exchanging of information and this is a perfect example.

I'm hoping like hell the FASST 8 channel gets here in the states before too long. I have one XPS receiver and transmitter left..and using XPS is a gamble until I can move on to Futaba.
