Cherokee Jim (Drew),

Please find that AMA report. Thank you. It's probably next to their spherical antenna reception graphs.

Cherokee Jim (Drew),

Will Cherokee Jim and Jim Drew are not actually one and the same! I am sure Jim Drew would not want to be an almost 63 year old man now!

I wish I did own a Radio Company!

I see XPS's potential and I also see potential for Futaba and Spectrum Radios.

I want all radios on the market to reach the highest levels of reliability and performance. I fly Multiplex MC4000 and JR, I did own a Futaba Single stick PCM and I still have my PCM9 Single Stick and dual Stick radios.

In the last 8 months I have helped two of the 2.4GHz radio manufacturers design their Power Supply Systems to fight the low voltage reset and Brown out problems. I work at Linear Technology Corp., in the applications department and that is my daily job function.

www.linear.com For those interested in electronics.

Happy Flying,
Cherokee Jim Mahoney

Say it all you want -

Joining in April 2008 with 100% of your posts in the XPS threads defending XPS and no location in your profile certainly does not bolster your claim.

Hey I'm a 24 year old Swedish bikini model on tour and I like watching Redskins football.

See how easy that was to post?

Yes, I know of at least 5 or 6 instances of a radio manufacturer reimbursing non-sponsored pilots for their expenses after crashes that they admitted their equipment was responsible for.

But that is not the point! Sweetpea said that even if he had proof it was the radio gear's fault, he still would not ask for compensation. That is NUTS!!! You gotta at LEAST ASK!!! JD, of course would say no, as XPS is NEVER responsible for anything bad, but you gotta ASK!!!

I've always heard that Swedish Bikini models prefer hirsute, intelligent men .. . care for a drink young lady???

("hirsute" is one of those "linguistics specialty" words I throw around occasionally. Kiwi gets to tell us what it means. . . .)

I own both XPS and Spektrum so I am interested in the subject.

I have been watching Paul Beard flying his Spektrum stuff since day one out at the Bayside flying field. I have also watched Paul going from a below average heli pilot to a very good pilot! Paul says all you have to do is fly 5 or 6 times a day 7 days a week for 3 years!

I have added this Edit to Say that All of Pauls flying is in the interest of Product Development and Testing!

Happy Flying,

Hey Jim, you still haven't found this phantom AMA study. Get back to work finding it.

One of two reasons:

1) He really is Jim Mahoney but the AMA is still working on analyzing the benefits of switching from AM to FM radios.

2) He's full of poop.

Hey Jim, you still haven't found this phantom AMA study. Get back to work finding it.

I am looking, I called the AMA today and talked to I believe Michael Ramsey who said:

That their test are mostly concerned with how the different radios interact with each other in real life flying field situations. He had not heard of the results I had. They are doing retesting of all radios, XPS included.

Happy Flying,

Strange fonts and personalities aside, Thank you so very much Kiwi for all your efforts. The great side line masses have learned much from this thread.
I have learned that Jr/Spectrum and Futaba have lived up to my expectations. They have provided what they advertised. My confidence has been raised to almost the point of purchasing the JR/ spectrum system.

Xps and Assan would have never been one of my choices. The clincher was back at the release of XPS. They delayed release for months do to a lack of plastic boxes from China.

The long list of "excuses" for delayed shipping were quite laughable and I'm surprised that so many folks swallowed them. Remember that once the plastic was done, there were no screws to be had for love nor money?

And then the website broke

and then...

Funny thing.. I got a spam just yesterday from a Chinese company offering to make custom injection-molded plastic parts to my specs/design with a turnaround measured in *days*.

I guess things much have changed in that part of the market
