Well, what is it now? One time you say, all the spherical or omnidirectional or whatever stuff was developed and patented by Maxstream (or Digi), the next time it is your additional stuff. Do you have the patent now?

Next issue, if any of your stuff would change the antenna pattern in any noticable way, you would not be allowed to use the FCC ID of the stock module, unless your special stuff appears on the list of approved antennas. Which it does not.

Thus, until a patent number is provided, I do not believe a word.

Jim,

We do have test software that gives you RSSI data, allows servo testing, etc.

I just completed a simple LCD display that plugs into our existing transmitter modules and gives you the RSSI and Rx battery voltage. We will be making that available to our customers shortly (as a kit or complete unit).

900MHz is obviously a MUCH better frequency to be using. We experimented with Digi's solution and although the range was incredible (7+ miles on the ground), the antenna requirements (large dipoles) were not something that we could really use very easily in R/C unless the model was large (50cc size and bigger).

So, as part of our chipset development with ATMEL, we also got a 900MHz version that uses basically the same board design with a few RF component changes. Our new hardware has dual hardware switched antennas which is what was needed for 900MHz due to the radiation pattern. We are going through FCC with many new pieces of hardware right now, and we expect to finally offer 900MHz (frequency hopping through 56 channels) after the first of the year.

Having Said that the Airtronics/Sanwa 2.4GHz seems to be doing very well and at a great price. They have one feature that I have always wanted, differential expo - e.g., the expo values for up elevator and down elevator can be set differently, after all the control response for most aircraft is not equal for opposite control inputs so expo, end points, dual rate, and even servo speed should be independently adjustable for each direction.

Not to get off-track, but my futaba radio also has this feature, and I do find it to be useful.

So Jim, why don't you answer Julez: what is the patent number? Please answer with a short, accurate, and complete answer (the patent number).

Hello Jim,

Glad to hear you are working on the 900MHz solution - 7 Miles range and I believe the radiation pattern situation is much better also, won't need extra receivers and the installation will be less criticle as well - But will have to test the system. Now dual receivers for redundent reception in case one receiver fails is a different story.

Let me know when you have 900MHz Hardware and I will order a set to test.

By the way, like Digi you could also offer a 900 Mhz system as an industrial RF Link and gain yourself an extra market, e.g., I had been planing to get an XBeePro 900 MHz system for non RC uses.

I already have done this... contact Digi for the information.

Jim,

You could have typed the patent number in less time than your previous reply. I will never understand why people have to be so obtuse!

The only possible reason for these answers Travis is that he CANNOT answer the question, therefore he side-steps it.

Or.......he doesn't answer the question so you guys keep talking about and thus give free press to the company.

No different than a company coming on posting new things are in store for 2010 with no real details. That generates buzz and interest in the company. Some are put off by it some are not.

Well, Futaba, for example, also claims to have a patent:
http://2.4gigahertz.com/features/features.html

And guess what? They display the patent number right in the feature list.
With google, one lands here:
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6141392.pdf

Would it not be a great way of advertising XPS, if people could easily find real patent numbers with real patents?

No wonder XPS has become the laughing stock all over Germany.

I am really happy that this strategy does not work out in the rest of the world.

And here is what they intend to buy if they are in the market for a new system (105 answers):
