i am just returning from a year and half tour in iraq and am treating myself to my first gasser. i have been flying glow planes and helis for 10 years now and finally had the nerve (and permission from my loving wife) to get into gas. I have already bought a DA 50 for power, (4) Hitec 5985's and a 5955 for control. However, I am on the fence for an airframe. i am looking mostly at the AeroWorks QB series, the Wild Hare planes and AirWild planes. Basically i would like a forgiving first gasser that handles nice and a plane that is a good quality product. i have planes up to the 72" range but i havent flown anything bigger than that. any help and thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks for serving our country, where we can enjoy our way of life and the hobby we love.......As airframes go, I can't tell you how they fly, but the Hangar9/Carden Yak looks awesome. And we all know it's about looking good.

You can't go wrong with Wild Hare Extra or Edge and Tom will give you all the help you will need. I have a Extra and it's great for your first gasser. Check out this link...

Get an Extreme Flight Extra 300. It's a little more, but comes with more stuff. Plus, it'll fly better than anything else in the 50cc range out there.

Glad you made it back OK. I spent a year there in 2004-05, nothing like being in the infantry in 138degree weather and shooting stuff. Getting ready to go back for another year. But back to the question, I have the 85" QQ Yak and I would say it is the most forgiving 50cc airframe I have ever flown. I heard the 86" QQ Yak is even better. There are just so many great 50cc airframes out there it is hard to choose from. I have the H9/Carden Yak on order and hope it is as good. But welcome back home.

Welcome back.
I would say that you need to treat your self with an ARF. Aeroworks, Wild hear, Hanger 9/Carden Yak, QQ yak... All are very good. When you have great and reliable companies that make very good planes, go and choose the color scheme you like the most. Adi

Welcome home! You cant go wrong with the DA 50. WH has a military discount. Try asking that of the other companies.
