I figured id share this with you guys. I have an AM Models 50cc Yak 54. Ive had it for awhile and yesterday afternoon i realized the plane has its own guardian angel with a prop.
Near death situation #1: The yak was sitting in the garage on the floor. Out of the way of everything i thought. One evening i was moving stuff around and an extension ladder fell. It landed inches to the left of the tail of the plane. I thought "man that was lucky". Kidnapped; Situation #2 A lot of you read the thread about my trailer being stolen. Well if you kept up with that thread, you read that i recovered most of my stolen equipment. The Yak was on the 2nd level of the trailer, not strapped down or anything. The only damage it sustained was a broken tailwheel. It rode about 100 miles bouncing all around that trailer with virtually no damage. I still dont understand how that happened. YESTERDAY; Fail Safe Situation #3; This really got me thinking. I went to the field yesterday after work to do a little flying. Well after getting the plane together and did my range check (showed to be fine) i got it up in the air. I flew about 10 minutes. When i decided to land, i brought it in, no problems other than a crosswind that had me use a bit more runway than usual. I landed the plane, wheels touched and i attempted to make a turn with the rudder to taxi back. Nothing. The plane was in fail safe mode. I looked down at the transmitter and it was OFF ! One of the cells in my battery pack died on me. If i had made another lap and put off that landing, Yak would be toast. I just thought id share that with you guys. Im sure you have some stories as well. I still cant belive how close that plane was to a pile of wood. |

Yeah I had something happen to me the other day. I was organizing my workshop and I just got the first layer of new shelves. The elevator of my WH Sukhoi sticks out just a little bit. I moved a box over and a scrap piece of 2x4 that I was using as a sanding block fell off the table missing my Sukhoi by less than a cm. That was scary. And glad to hear you got your stuff back after being stolen.

Try all of that with a different airplane to see if it's a lucky bird or if it's a lucky you.
