I have the QQ. I was so disappointed with the poor quality and massive flex it has that I haven't even flown it yet - and I finished it like 5 months ago! Go with the EF. It also has removeable wings if I am not mistaken, which is nice for traveling.

Heck. Just take a look at the right aileron in the pic you posted to get an idea how twisted and flimsy that thing is

Evol,
I have 2 of the QQ-Eyaks and both are great. I've never had an extreme flight so I can't comment on that. I had the twist on the ailerons or control surfaces when I opened the box too but with a heat gun you can take care of that part. If you see any excessive flex anywhere that you think it hurts flying, apply a little super thin CA on the covering and it will become solid. Below is a very short video on mine. For $140 shipped with ESC,Motor and hardware I don't think you can find a better deal. The reason I have two is the first one I bought I paid $199 +$10 shipping and then they dropped the price to $140 and I found it a hard to beat deal bought another one as back up and despite all the abuse that I have done to the first plane, it's still flying and my second one still NIB. BTW, I am looking at both pictures you posted and the construction looks extremely similar. How much is the extreme flight? www.gholamipour.com/rcplanes video number 8

I have the Extreme Flight Yak 55, I have no problems with mine,I added a strip of carbonfiber about 1/4 down the bottom spine of the fuse and she stiffened right up! Fun little plane.

That means you did have a little flex too. See guys just by looking at the construction of these 2 planes you can tell there shouldn't be a huge difference! I didn't do anything on mine except for a little super thin CA.

NOW.......what receiver are you guys using these days? i was thinking of just throwing a GWS micro Rx in like i use on my Shock flyer. any other suggestions for an Rx? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHHR5&P=0 |

I have had both. The EF yak is 10,000 times better. The QQ control surfaces are all warped, even after 5 gos with a heat gun. The EF rolls much better too. You couldn't give me another QQ yak.

I used the hitec electron 6,small and lite. JR has an even smaller micro receiver the size of your thumb. Also used a 3s 1500mah lipo, himax 2812-850,running a 10x4.7 apc prop.Hitec 55 all around.

Don't forget the new foamy Yak from Airfoilz.com,
I've got about 25 flights on mine and it is a very nice flying plane. 40" span, around 17 oz AUW. Mine is powered by Axi 2212/26 but a Hacker A20-20L would be great. Construction and design of this plane was very well thought out. Airfoiled wing and a thick laminated foam fuse. Rudder authority is awesome. |
