What wheels and axles are you fellas using? I am ordering wheels, axles, headers and pipes tomorrow. Is there anything else that I should pick up to have on hand for this plane? Did this plane come with the 3mm ball links? If so, I need to pick up some more 4-40 ball links to have on hand for the servo ends.
My setup so far (things I already have):
DA 100
JR 8611A's on all surfaces 1.5" JR aluminum arms
JR 8711A on the rudder 4" SWB offset arm
Vess 28A prop
4.5" Petes models spinner

I got the 4.5" dubro wheels. They are not the lightest but they are tough and look good. For axles I went with the titanium that TBM carries. You will need 4-40's to go to your servo arms, it has 3mm in the kit. I had to go with a 4 1/2 inch offset arm for the geometry on the rudder. Lets see.. I cant think of anything else, that is pretty much the equipment that I used that you have listed.

Thats strange because Chris told me to get the 4" straight arm from swb..maybe both can be used ?

Im sure if Chris said 4" will work then it would be fine. I just measured piont to piont across the control arms on the rudder and came up with 4 3/8" so I went with 41/2" arm.

I think the choices are the red-white, the yellow-black, and then the original scheme like the 87 inch yak's.

Do you guys think that 5" wheels will work okay?
I really would like to put aluminum wheels on this bird since there are no wheel pants to cover the wheels. All that I can find in the aluminum wheels are 4" and 5".
I like these..........

Guys,
I've had a couple pm's about the cannister installation. Make sure you use the MTW TD75 which has a smaller diameter, 2.125" to be exact. Installation was very easy, I used the two mounts supplied with the kit. I had to cut around 3/4" off the headers to keep the one stinger from hitting the firewall. I also took a picture of the instrument panel's detail, really adds a nice touch to the looks off the plane. I'll post a video off the performance with the can setup but it won't be until next week since my schedule is full and I'm heading to Toledo Thursday.

I used 5" Dubro's on mine, I had to dremel the wheel spats a little and offset the holes for the axles but they look very good. I think the 5" wheels look just right.

I haven't checked the weight of mine yet but since that seems to be such a big question about this plane I'll do it in the morning. If I was to guess I would say around 29lbs. but we'll see.
