I had also removed part of the landing gear former to accomodate the canisters - be sure to leave at least 1/2" of material at the bottom of the former - the bottom section of the canister mount will be glued directly to this former - adding some of the strength back to what was removed - the second pic shows the bottom part of the canister mount.

The last pic I wanted to point out the two slots I had made to allow the battery wires to be routed back to the Powerbox tray - make these big enough to allow the mpi connectors to pass through.

Yea Joe, with Brendan flying this plane for freestyle also, I am going to put two servos per stab. IF, and I say IF, it will work out to put two servos in the tail for the rudder, that is what I am going to try to do.

As to what I was talking about as to weight, it will be figuring the weight in two different ways as to this to get an overall weight, one with the tray and 3 servos in the tray, then the weight without the tray and hardware and one less servo, if its close to the overall weight it would have been with the tray, hardware and one more servo and I have to put weight in the nose I will go that route, as long as the weight is going to be really close to the same if that makes sense.

I worked on Brendans a bit this afternoon, got to watching the race Got the holes all cut out for the servos to fit, now to start marking things up for the arms and horns again :/

Little a time huh Joe ! I might make it by the end of the month, dont know.

OH DUDE !!! That HURT ME when I read that ! That is awful ! Like I said in my post, measure and look 10 times, cut once LOL. Good golly Miss Molly, I know how sick you feel doing that, it made me feel sick.

Yea Joe, I know there is another hardpoint in the rudder, Im just wondering about the heat from the pipes and the tray being over top of them, not a whole lot of room between them.

I noticed the difference in the gap on the nose ring on the cowl when we mounted the engine. The firewall has 2.5 degrees of right thrust in it already, normally 2.5 to 3 is about all anyone puts in them, so you have 5.5 degrees in yours ? That seems and sounds like a lot, but its been working good for you. Did you ever try just the 2.5 and see how it flew ?

Dan, I look looked and measured 20 times, just on the wrong side. That's what I get for going into the house to watch the rest of the race. I blame it on NASCAR! I have the piece that I cut out. I woder how hard it would be to fix? I think the hardest part would be the paint.

Well Nick, Im no glass man but, you know there are LOTS of cars, and boats out there that get damaged, and a guy who knows what he is doing can fixem and you cant tell.

I went down stairs to work on Brendans after I read what you did to start on the other stab, I turned it over and put tape on it making a big X for NOT to cut on this side LOL

My thought on that is....get it all together, put everything in it that is going to be in it,, figure in the weight of a servo tray and hardware for that plus the 3 servos for the tray, get a weight. Then just figure the weight of two servos for the tail without the weight of the servo tray and hardware and see what the total is.

Then to see how much if it is tail heavy that it would take to balance it. If it is within reason and close to the same weight adding weight to the nose to get it to balance, i will put the servos in the tail as long as the overall weight is going to be close to the same in figuring all of this.

Will wait and see. I am putting a smoke system in this for Brendan, yea its additional weight but, if its going to take weight in the nose to get it to balance then it is usable weight instead of dead weight.

We will keep our fingers crossed and hope it turns out the way we want
Danny- put 5 AA batts where the pilot will mount for a 5oz. ballast. We are working on your pilot and believe me - he will be worth every gram of it!

Well Joe, any progress on the plane your working on ? I know you been busy with what I seen on the front page for that contest, we would like to attend it if i get Brendan registered in time before the list fills up.

Ive got the stabs DONE ! Going to start on the wings in the morning Its starting to come together, its not that much to do, its just tedious and time consuming with laying out and cutting all the slots in. It sure would be sweet if those were sloted at the factory on a jig huh.

Joe,
On your canister mount I noticed the piece that glues to your bottom former then (two TOP PIECES)? Why two?

Hey Ron,

No, its only one top - the other is a paper template I use, I have another template for the bottom.

I hope to get some work done on the plane this weekend - I missed delievry of the engine and cans yesterday - but I do have other items to tackle - we'll keep you guys posted.

How about faxing a copy of your various patterns you're using. Those would be VERY handy! Also, your fuel tank rails.....any reason they went on the inside of the formers and not the outside? (in order to get them as wide as possible)

You flying tomorrow?

Little progress made here on my end, left wing is complete as to installing the control horns and the servo's are mounted, no hardware is attached yet, waiting for the matchboxes which should be here today. Going to tackle the right wing today and get it done, then I can start building the tank tray. Thats all I got done, anyone else made any progress ?
