Went to the field today to get some pictures and fly, excuse the lack of aerial photos, I found it hard to fly and take photographs at the same time

Well they are still there feeling as solid as ever, although they can flex if they get knocked about, so I'm pretty happy

Well the red strings were as short term solutions as I had expected so I decided to use a kit I got from Aerobatic Concepts to use on my Su-31 but never got round to installing. First outing tonight and they get full marks.

Hi guys,
I just took over one of these from a guy who started the build but never finished it for a really good price. It is base yellow so some paint/decals would be in order ![]() Your build thread is really cool and I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" some of the ideas. One question, I test fitted the control horns on the aileron and found that if I line the top little hole in the control horn up with the hinge line then my up movement of the aileron is limited to about 30 degrees. The front edge of the horn come in contact with the trailing edge of the wing before I can reach full deflection. Have any of you experienced this? The manual is extremely sparse in info and the pictures does not tell a thousand words ![]() Do you just mount the horn further back on the aileron? This would result in uneven travel between up and down elevator, that can be negated with some settings in the radio I suppose. I could not find a photo in this thread that dealt with that, did I miss something? Any input would be appreciated. |

I looked at those and they don't really answer the questions I have.
I have to mount the control horn back quite a bit to get full deflection and I was wondering if this is standard practice? |

This is for the ailerons correct?
There was an article in Model Airplane News writtten by John Glezzelis that commented on this. To get more throw he had to cut slots for the control horns where they come in contact with the wing. I don't know if you get MAN but it was in the november 2007 magazine on page 42. Hope this helps.

I used all the supplied horns on the elevator so I can't comment on them for the ailerons
![]() but I used these from Toni Clark on the ailerons as they were close to those that came with the kit so it should be doable with the horns that are included.

Looking at that last picture it would appear that the holes in the horn are nowhere close to the hinge line.
I had to do the following to get at least 45 degrees: (Not glued in yet...) Last edited by yufasa; 07-25-2008 at 09:55 PM. Reason: added picture |
