Default How do I mount the wing on ‘MY’ Edge 540

A few months back I picked up an open box edge 540 at a local show. The plane seems to be mostly complete short of the actual instructions and there is something that I have never seen before.

The plane is an Edge 540 100cc size plane, and I believe it to be a China ARF but do not know for sure.

The issue I am having is : when inserting the wing tube there is no receiver tube inside the fuselage. My first thought was to just make one and put it in, but somewhere in the back of my mind I remember a plane on the market that had an adjustable wing. Maybe this was just a dream but what I remember was you could slide the wing forward and back to adjust the CG.

What I am looking for is an instruction manual for a plane with an adjustable wing, it does not have to be the plane I have just one with this type of design so I can understand how it is done. If the design does not exist in the real world perhaps someone can tell me how to proceed as I am at a loss.

Thanks

does the plane have spots for anti rotation dowels?

it uses flat metal tabs to keephe wing from rotating, and those get screwed into the fuse. there is a slot in the side of the fuse that allows the tabs on the wing to go anywhere within the oval hole

It is just I have never seen anything like this, and on top of it all the hole is not round and there is no fiberglass tube with it.

It's an adjustable for sure. Now it's just a matter of making a pair of ply braces that will slip over the tube and screw in place to the inside of the fuselage. Not difficult at all.

I do not fully understand this type of setup or how to make it work. Can you expand a little more on what the ply brace are for, their propose, and exactly where to put them?

I have a little more information on my situation and have added other photos to make sure I give everything I know and make sure I do it right the first time. This is the first plane of this size I have. Prior to it I was flying 50cc class planes.

The way the wing is secured in place is very interesting. The plane uses these aircraft aluminum tabs for both the anti-rotation pins and to hold the wing on the plane. Let’s see the best way to explain it is there are metal tabs sticking out of the wing about 1 ˝”, both near the LE and TE, there are slots in the side of the fuse that the tabs go into and then are bolted down to doubled hardwood. The tabs are about 1 ˝” wide with a hole in the middle and the slots in the fuse for the tabs allow for the wing to move forward and back, unless they are screwed down.

I was thinking of having possibly 3 wing positions. The first would give me a slight nose heavy plane, middle would be on the CG, and the last would give me a slightly tail heavy plane. This would allow the plane to do a freestyle 3D, move the wing and have pattern plane, move it again and have a precision plane. There is also the ability that you mentioned, allowing me to run a number of different engines and what not without the big worry of adding weight to make the CG right.

I am only guessing that the plane is a 100cc plane based on the wingspan and length of the fuse, the funny thing is the plane weighs almost nothing. The airframe weighs 7lb 4oz with no gear or engine, which seems very light to me. I checked it twice with 2 different scales just to be sure.

One other thing I was thinking about was just putting in 2 receiver tubes one in the front and one in the back, just so I have one to use, the real question is are the receiver tubes even needed?
