Default Northwest 2.4 switch?

Out of curiosity, and to start a new discussion. Who plans on switching to 2.4 this year and what radio manufacturer? Are there pros and cons to each one? Any one had glitches or mis-haps?
Thanks
Joe

i have a spectrum that almost shot down my pattern plane because i have a laptop that connects to the internet with a wireless card on 2.4.
Plane rebooted on a loop.

I went back to 72

I still use the spectrum for the small planes

Exactly how did this lap top interfere?
1) 2.4 is designed to inherently play nice with other signals
2) of all the possible causes, what steps did you take to determine it was indeed the source as opposed to say battery voltage, loose connection on a AR9000 or a switch issue. (all known trouble spots)

Not accusing, just debating.

I am curious as well to the determination of signal loss.

Ok, thanks.

I think the voltage issue is a much greater conscern for the general sunday flyer and small plane crowd than it is for the giant scalers. For years everyone has just been throwing all the equipment in their plane and plugging in the 600mah battery. Fly all day,.. assume the charge will hold etc etc. Now with receivers that are more sensitive to a voltage loss, some of these planes will be experiencing re-boots. Electrics with cheap escs may be having problems too as the bec fails to supply the necessary voltage. The big birds have been already been carefully keeping track of the electrical situation in their planes out of necessity. The smaller stuff will have to follow suit. The new technology is different now, and at least one brand is voltage sensitive. Not that this is any more work than before, as older models SHOULD have had the same care taken but could get away with it a little longer.

You guys need to come down to Nampa and fly. No snow there. Although I still have between 1-2ft in my yard.

I got to fly my Carden today for the first time with the new 9303 2.4 radio. Everything went great. Had no problems at all. Just need to spend time re-trimming and mixing everything back to how I had it. It seemed to feel a lot more responsive and crisp.

With the XPS XDP wireless programming device, to analyze the entire 2.4 spectrum and see what the noise floor might be.

And supposedly a laptop or any other of the normally used 2.4 wireless devices are REQUIRED to not cause interferance on the 2.4 band. I use my Laptop all the time and it has never interfered with my planes in the Workroom about 10 ft away. Plus a wireless network and cordless phone system. All on 2.4.

There are some such as Nexrad Radar and Video cameras that do not have the requirement. So analyaing the noise floor at your field is a wise thing, especially if you are within 5 miles of a Nexrad radar site.

Been flying XPS for a year, not a competitor, in 4-5 different planes. Flown all over the NW, Las Vegas, and Tucson without a glitch. Using the Futaba 9C, and 6, 8, and 10 channel receivers. Looking forward to the new stuff coming for XPS in the next few months, especially the 2 way telemetry.
