Default DA 85 prop @ 5000ft

I searched most of the threads to avoid this question! I have 2 props currently, a tbm 26 x10, and a xoar laminated 26x10. I am @ 5000 ft, and would like to try a prop that would be a bit smoother, and quieter (the xoar is much louder & rough than the TBM). Any suggestions on which to try, I am 50/50 3d Imac. Thanks 871

Vess 26A or B. On a pitts muffler the motor is going to get loud at anything about 6k. The vess are loud past 6k to me...... those prop range in the 6400-6800 for most users......

Yea, I like the the mej 27-10 std for imac. For some reason I have this cheap a.. TBM 26x10 and it runs soooo much smoother, less vibration, than the others so I usually end up running that for everyday 3d stuff. Thanks 871

I assume you are balancing your props. The blades and the hub, right...

Yup.....I Have a xoar and 2 mejlicks....any they all "shake" more than this $25 tbm. I think it comes down to the weight, the TBM is like 1.5-2 oz lighter i think, thus having less rotating mass to radiate and amplify vibration of the motor. Or something like that! did you sell your yak yet?? get your new one yet?? 871

I have a 26x10 Menz on mine and it doesn't seem to vibrate that much. No more than expected for a single cyl. For IMAC, I would expect a 27x10 Mezjlik to be a good choice. 26x10 wood for 3D.

Yep, sold the Yak. I am waiting on the new one to arrive. Also waiting on the new DA170, so it will be a while before I get it all done. Can't wait though!
