Hello my hobby brothers and sisters, I know there are alot of you flying the Aviation Models 30% yak 54 and need some help locating my receiver antenna. Seems like a simple task, but I lost my last 30% to PCM lockout with out reason and want to take all precautions. So, any pics of your install would be geatly apprieciated or just any ideas will be very helpful. I ran my first one in the bottom stringers of the fuse and Yes they followed along side the pull pull cables, probably 4-6" away. Are you guys running yours outside, I just dont think this looks very clean, but may have no other option. Thanks in advance!!!!

3 Dubya is the man to talk to about routing antenna's.
From what I have read around the traps you really dont want the entire length of your antenna running parrallel with servo leads or pull/pull cables, outside or inside the model. Try and get a curve upwards towards the end of the antenna, or use a whip aerial. The whip has the same effect as angling the aerial. I dont think insied or outside will make a huge difference if you have it angled right! |

Thanks Benny, I saw a post somewhere of someone who routed there antenna like you said curved to the top of the fuse and routed inside a poly tube. Cant seem to find the pics but would like to understand the science behind this idea. I am still skeptical of whips, but i guess i just need to try one on a smaller plane first!! Where can I find 3 Dubya? Thanks again!!

Thanks guys, I guess it looks as most of you run it on the inside. I was interested to know if anyone ran it on the outside just behind the canopy(small hole) then up to the top of the rudder...
![]() Hey Vic3D, are you running yours parallel to the pullpull cables and does it make a big difference if there is only a small amount exiting from the back? In other words as long as you have a part of the antenna out of the plane, will it be like running the whole thing out( based on radio waves etc.etc.etc).Thanks for all the great input. ![]() WHERES THE PICS????? |

you really don't need any of it outside if you don't want.my reciever is just behind the wing tube so i start my tube right there and run it just as far as i need.secure the 1/8th tube with zip ties at the formers

i can understand that.after 40 flights maybe it is a loose metal to metal connection somewhere or a wornout connecter but i don't think the antenna route would be it after so many flights.i have been bumped sometimes and thought it as interference so i bought a scanner from hobbico and check every time before i fly all mine are inside with pull pull and no probs
