Default 25% YAK w/ 26cc GAS

Anyone build one of these yet, I am trying to get some feedback on this setup, I am looking for a small plane to just HUCK around but want gas not glo. Plane looks real nice with carbon accessories and nice hardware package they are claiming under 10lb AUW with the 26cc gas engine.

Here is the link.

I have one with the SPE 26. I really like the design of the airframe with big control surfaces. I have a couple hundred flights on the motor in a World Models Extra 330 60 size. I was looking for a good replacement that was light enough to do 3D. When I came across this plane I bought it right away. One note, the landing gear and wing tube are NOT carbon as I believed. They are anodized black aluminum . Plane flies great but barely has enough to pull out of a hover. I hacked as much weight off it as I could. Am using lipos on ingition and RX to save weight.

put a MVVS or evolution 26 on it with a tuned pipe and it will pull out of a hover. i have a 12lb giant u-can-do with this combo and it pulls out of a hover.

i had one of these planes before with an spe26cc. well, at the most, it would be good for sport flying. it will not hover at all. mine weighed 9.75lbs. a flying buddy also has this yak with a mvvs 1.6. it is a little bit stronger but the performance is still flat. perhaps a pipe on this engine would help.

I have one I hope to maiden in the next week or so. My local hobby shop East R/C sells quite a few of them. It looks like a nicely done plane. Most people feel the 26 is a little weak on it, I am using the SPE 40 (43 now), everyone I have talked to loves it with the 40.

IFly3D did a build thread on it.

Performance wise you will probably love it, the 180 may even be overkill. Several people I have talked to felt that a large glow engine would be perfect on this airframe. Weight to performance at this size, glow is still one up on gas.

A lot of us are trying to get into gas at this size though, which is why you see this plane advertised for gas and so many people doing it. The little SPE engines are (relative to other gas engines) very light, as it this airframe, so you can get away with it.

I think your plane will be a monster, as long as you can afford the fuel !

Good luck !

Thank`s ! Jason
I had the saito 180 in my Funtana s90 !
NO GOOD ! It ripped one of my Ailerons off so i had to put a saito 1.25 in it ! Thats overkill "don`t u think"
"Monster" Yes i hope so !
I hope to put some film out here, when i get it in the air!

Ivan !

I had the new blue one which flew great. I first was initially flying it with the SPE 26, which was a little under powered. I then switched to the newer MLD-28 which significantly imporved the pull out from hover. 3Ds well. One downside is that it pulls a lot to the belly in knife edge quite a bit.
