Default GSP 80"Giles 202 CG issue

Hey Guys,
I bought a used GiantScalePlanes 80" Giles 202. The aircraft was supposedly flown before but after I installed my reciever and batteries I had to remove the 1lb of lead that the previous owner had installed in the nose, move the ignition battery to behind the firewall and put my main battery, a 1950mah 6v nimh in the tail with the servos to get it to balance at a calculated 28% MAC. I think that the CG the guy before me was using was about 3.5" forward of the point I am using or about 25% of the root chord. There are small pen marks on the covering of the wing there. Would the airplane be flyable that nose heavy?? I am thinking my cg location is correct because I used a calculation program to find it and it just aft of the forward wall of the wing tube. The instructions are of no help and the aircraft is out of production so I can't get anything from the manufacturer either. I am hesitant to test fly this plane because I am just uncertain about the CG and I really hate to plant one on the first flight. Any helpful advice out there?!??
Thanks, Alan

Default Re: GSP 80"Giles 202 CG issue

Form my experience ( 6 - 8 years), and what others that are VERY VERY experienced.(20 years +) have told me...
You can never be THAT off if you start around the wing tube.
The designers put that tube in its place for a reason, and that tube usually falls really close to the suggested CG.

I've personally never met a plane that you couldn't at least fly decently, that was balanced on the wing tube.

Hope that helps!
