You do not need a new former, all you need to do is glue a 2" wide 1/8 plywood doubler spanning 1" each way past the crack on the side of the former that will not interface with the canopy when installed. Use med. CA and you done. Bob |

Hey good luck trying to get parts for the Staudacher. I just got the edge with some missing parts. Tower wouldn't help me at all.
I have just finished my 40% staudacher and have made two flights on it so far. I still have all my plans and could possibly get some pictures if need be. This is a great plane, flys and lands like a trainer. Not sure it will 3d but it will hover. I cut weight out of almost ever part and used carbon wing tube and spinner. final weight was 38 pounds with unpainted cowling |

They are all discontinued... I was lucky enough to scoop up TWO of the Extra 330's, 94" ARFs for $299 each with the $30 off from Tower Coupons on each one
Congrats! I'd suggest when you get it you take a hard look at the cowl and make sure the fiberglass is correct. Both of my kits had fiberglass cowl issues and were sunken in due to the rush job they did when they pulled them from the molds. |

If any one is still looking for either the edge or the staudacher keep watching the scratch and dent section on towers sight. I have seen a couple pop up in the last few weeks. But they only last a day or two. The staudacher that was on there last weekend had only box damage. And was almost 200.00 dollars off of the close out price.

Yes and no. Both of my cowls had fiberglass that was shrunken back and not even touching the paint.. I will have to take some pics but overall they were cracked in the paint, fiberglass bubbles and holes and needed serious masaging to fit somewhat decent |

I bought the 94" lanier edge and it came in with a slight crush on the lower front rounded edge at the fire wall. A little thin ca and a push out and it is back. The only other item was two of the holes for the robart hinge points was off and angled. Cowl seems ok for not shrinking but where I drilled the 4 mounting holes the paint is peeling, a little ca here also. Maybe a new paint job later.
My grip is I have to recover parts, as the covering is not sticking to the wood, found lots of balsa dust under the covering. I cranked the heat up thru the ranges slowly to try and get it to stick. I have a new DA85 and servos arriving next week so may 3-4 is maiden, weather permitting. |

I'm hoping to maiden my Extra this weekend with the DA-85 so I'll update later. So far, the cowl thing was my only major complaint. We did swap out the ***** hinges for some good robarts though.
