Is this a "New Era"? IMAC through video? Excellent, now we dont have to worry about the high gas prices!

Great idea Blair, maybe we could even do it on the simulator, then we don't even have to worry about the cost of planes.

As I said before, I was just free flying and wanted to post some more video of the plane to help bring the interest back since everyone has been waiting a while for the plane. I don't mind people pointing out mistakes, just remember this started as a joke between my buddy Chris a I, lets not discourage others from posting for fear that they will get torn apart about little mistakes when they didn't intend on getting scored. I hope to see some of you at Joe Nall, until then have fun flying.

Lee, out of curiosity, what was the UAW of the plane. Smoke systems add lots of flab, so I'm thinking you came in at around 29 lbs or so. Also, what prop were you using, and could you elaborate a bit on your radio gear so people can get a feel for things?

thanks.

I did post this info in another thread but I'll post here also. It's on the high end of 28lbs. with the following setup:
DA 100 with MTW TD75 cannisters
Mejzlik 28-10
Pete's Model 4.5" spinner
Duralite 4cell 2900 with Digi switch on ignition (mounted in motor box)
Powerbox 4024 Champion with 2 P.B. 2900 batteries (both batteries and 4024 mounted at rear of rudder tray)
JR 921 2.4 with 2 remote rx's
1 JR 8711 on rudder with SWB offset arm
1 JR 8711 on each elevator with 1.5" SWB arms
2 JR 8611a's on each aileron with 1.5" SWB arms
I will add a removable smoke system soon for freestyle competition
I'm very happy with the performance with this weight and power setup, it's more than enough. I'm flying at sea level here in New Jersey.

You could save some weight by not using the Powerbox and using ES pipes or stock mufflers. I had the stuff already so I used it.

The nose drops at the same time the left wing drops, even though the plane continues forward. This is a stalled flight condition. Full scale planes do not stop their forward motion in a spin. They actually initiate spins at speed in excess of 35-60 knots forward motion. This plane exhibited VERY "Scale" spin entry in this case. All that is required is to show a definitive "break", stalled flight, autorotation, and lack of wingover on entrance to the spin. He accomplished all these nicely.

The nose broke throughthe horizon, and the left wing dropped simultaneously before the right wing came around. The right wing did not 'wing over", but rather spun with the aircraft as the left wing AND nose dropped lower, increasing the roll and yaw motion, but not to the point of a wingover. A plane does not have to spin flat in order to spin, and given that the nose AND left wing were dropping at the same time the right wing was angling upward, giving the pilot the benefit of the doubt (because the plane is dropping at this time) renders the entrance to the spin acceptable, though not particularly textbook or pretty.

The spin exit was decent, and he got the nose down nicely, but he missed the roll point of the stoppage slightly, and the entrance to the spin actually climbed slightly.

2.5 points of downgrade. . Scored a 7.5

Comment: That has to be the LOUDEST canister exhaust setup I have ever heard. You sure you are running canisters?? I'd be giving that an automatic 5 for sound score.

Otherwise. . GREAT flying dude. Looked sweet and the Yak is very stable and 3D's nicely. Now .. about those notchy point rolls and missed snaps. . . . .

Sounds like you need to be putting on an IMAC judging school. I dont think that the videos are put on here for judging, I think they are put on here for people to see the general perfomance of the aircraft.

Actually, TIm, I've been to a few, and was christened a rather questionable name by Roy Barrow at the Nats a few years back. . But, most of my post was in jest toward anyone who wants to judge flying on the Net, and say that they had a truly accurate presentation of the planes flying, when it's all through a camera lens. Who can be exacting watching a movie without any horizon or ground clues? It's literally impossible. Most videos are here merely to show what the plane is capable of doing. . I think we all realize that, and I personally appreciate the effort put forth to make and edit these videos before putting them up for public scrutiny. I've had a few of my own up here, most with good results, but there are always those that people want to view then give you a hard time about.

BTW. . I did an impromptu 10-12 minute video, posted here on FG, about "How to do spins" You can find it by clicking on my name then searching for my videos. It's rather instructive, and shows all the nasty mistakes people make, as well as some "textbook" spins.

Geez, harsh statement there. But since you said big deal, then you post a video of your flying and let us decide if your flying is a "big deal". It really does not matter what other kids around Toledo can do since you are the one saying "big deal".
Anyway, MXCOP was helping out by letting others see the airplane perform which I think is very commendable even if he just flew circles.

mxcop,

Thanks for posting the video. I have been on the waiting list for close to a year and it's nice to see videos of this plane in the air.

mandifer, everybody is entitled to their own opinion!!! I see no benefit from your comments on Mxcop's flying or his past product selections. If you got a problem with him take it off site. Lets talk about the EFRC 110" yak. One more thing, I pay little credence to those who will not post their name.
