Default Old Hangar 9 33% Sukhoi rudder setup

i have the old yellow sukhoi 33% from hangar 9 and i need some help setting up the rudder. it uses to servos for the rudder on opposite sides of the tail. i have just bought the 2.4 9303 and 9100 reciever. i will not be using y-harnesses or matchboxs. i have setup the radio for the correct channels to use the rudder but some where on here i was reading that you have to setup a mix because the geometry is different from left to right. i really do thank everyone for helping as this is my first big plane. i have matchboxes for the ailerons and already have the elevator setup and working fine thanks

I have a DX7 and am using the AR7000 in my hangar 9 extra 33%. I put my two rudder servos on a matchbox. I am pretty sure you can't connect two servos on one flight control and just use the mix. Because the servo's move when the plane is turned on and not bound to the transmitter and may make them bind up.

Good luck, Matt

if you cannot use two channels then why does the radio have channels labeled that way. you do have a valid point of the servos moving but you are supposed to rebind the rec. so they do not move when the power is turned on. any help please. thanks

I agree but I don't think the receiver knows that the aux or gear channels are not on full travel ON OFF switches untill the transmitter and receiver reconnect or bind after power up and provides the mix from the transmitter? I have the DX7 maybe the 9303 is different? If their is a different way for the DX7 I don't know it but would like to... I'll try rebinding mine and see if it still moves full travel but I think the throttle is the only channel that moves to a default setting, learned with the binding plug.

Good luck, Matt

It may be a bit late if you already have the servos and installed them, but I asked about the rudder servo deal when I was putting my 33% Edge together, Mike McConville said just use a single high torque servo. Works great and no monkeying around trying to match servos....

I have a friend who has this model and he just went with a single servo pull/pull system, that works great as well.

I may be a bit late on this thread as well, but I will chime in. I am using a DX7 and a AR7000 on my showtime 50. It has dual "elevator" Servos. I have them setup with no Y harness and followed Mike McConvilles directions on RC universe. Since JR and Spektrum are almost one in the same, try this...

Plug one servo into the Rudder channel on your Rx. Second servo into an AUX channel on the rx. Shut of the switch for the AUX channel that you decide to use(accidental flip of the switch could have bad consiquences) Go bck into the programming mode of the TX and set the P-Mix for the desired channel used. go to Subtrim and set the rudder neutral to the eye. Then back to the P-mix and adjust the travel for opposite movment on the aux channel. If your servo isnt centered then, pop the horn off the servo and set it at 90 degree's. Hopefully it doesnt over extend the servo.

Im still new to all this Computer Radio stuff, but I figured I may chime in....

Let me know if it works.

Ok, I rebound my reciever to my DX7 and the servos now center when I turn on the plane with the DX7 off. I still don't think I would put two servos on the same flight control with just using the mix function in the radio. I agree on using just one 8711 on the rudder unless you allready bought two 8611 like I did. I will swap it out with a 8711 when I am ready to build another plane and can use the servos. Let us know how it works out.

Good luck, Matt
