Hey guys i am new to the posting and new to the FG family, so be nice. but sence my good buddy Jeff is taking so long on his yak 55m i thought i would get one and build it in two weeks and let you guys know how it flys. i will be flying it in IMAC in the advanced class, i have not done any 3D with it yet, i am just trying to get it ready for my next contest. but in the two flights i have on it i can say that it looks to be real promising. I need to fix a few things on the plane for i fly it again but i will keep u all posted, attached are pics from the frist flight.

With that scheme is it mandatory to wear the shirt when you fly it?

Hey, you know what they say about ugly planes?
The price has changed since the dollar is weak, I think they are $6500.00 wings are extra. ![]() Just kidding they are around 3K with shipping, don't quote me on that. |

3K
You'll pay more for a full Carden build. Pricey but if it flies like an ugly plane it just may be worth it.

Here is a picture of Brad and I putting our birds together to show size differences. My plane is a 3W yak 54, and it has a slightly larger wingspan but smaller wing chord. Brad's stands much taller and seems bigger. Even though Brad didn't share the sticks like he said he would, we got in 7-8 practice flights today for the Prattville IMAC event. A bunch of fun between competitors and friends.

Brad,
Great video. Really nice to see a non 3D, Flipping and Floppin video. First glance at the plane makes me wonder about the lack of side area and how it would do in rollers but, it was really cool to see you do some in your video. Is there any mixing in the plane yet, or at the time of the video? How do you feel it does with the obvious lack of side area compared to everything else out there? Again, Great video.

Wayne,
Glad you liked the video. I'm not Brad but I watched him fly it about 7-8 times yesterday. Here are some things I overheard him say... 1. He does his rollers on low rates so I don't believe the lack of side area is a big issue... 2. He uses less rudder to correct pitch in point and half rolls than he did with his ca260 40%er... 3. He likes it a lot... 4. No aileron mixing to rudder as of yet... 5. Somewhere like 4% rudder to elevator mixing... 6. He likes it a lot... 7. It has a lot of vertical... 8. Snaps real nice and stops when he tells it too... 9. He likes it a lot... He may take awhile to reply becuase he doesn't get on the net much. He spends more time in the shop and practicing on the simulator to whop me. ![]() Craig Last edited by psk560; 04-22-2008 at 05:51 AM. Reason: spelling like brad does... |

Well Craig is right i do spend a lot of time in the shop but no time practicing it doesn't take anything to whoop Craig, it is like a fifth grader taking a piece of candy from a first grader, the first grader just cowards down and says ok cause i am scary to Craig,
But to answer your question Wayne i only have 4% of elevator to rudder mix and that is it. the plane has such large elevators that it flys with only 6 to 7% on the elevators, even the rollers were in low rate, the plane has 10 flights on it now and i am flying it better than my comp 260 and i have 300 flights on it, but just keep an eye on the thread i will keep ya'll posted on how things go with the plane as i get more flights on it Bradley Petty |
