Default Hangar 9 Warbird realism

Greetings fellow warbird enthusiasts,
I have a quick question in reference to monokote, if you have a moment or two.
I am thinking about purchasing one of the Hangar 9, .60 warbirds and was looking to put a little more detail into the plane. Weathering / decals mostly. Anywho, I was looking to see if its possible to dull cote the surface of the plane.
I understand that I would only add weight but I am thinking it would not be sufficient enough to change the flight characteristics to any great extent.
I also realize I would have to test different variations of paint (latex, acrylic, enamel and so on) but this can be done on spare pieces of monokote. I guess I am wondering if this has been tried before with any success. I would really love to take the "sheen" of the glassy finish that Hanger 9 uses on their warbird schemes. Just dont know if it will glaze, peel, or crack during flight.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Dan

We have a member in our club that bought one of the E-Flight Taylorcraft ARF's and he put some of the Testors dull coat on it. Looks like a real rag wing plane now! Looks great and even feels like a rag wing.
