Hello, Glad to have found FG Im new, and enjoying very much.
I wanted to get alittle more out of my DA 50, I plane on getting a tuned pipe. Do the tuned pipes load up like when your in a hover? I expeireanced this with a little .55. Or do I bolt her on and fly? Thanks |

A properly set up pipe will not load up at all. It's all in the pipe you choose, the header length, and the prop. I would suggest calling Desert aircraft and asking them directly. They have a lot of data in regard to several of the popular pipes used, the best header length and best prop combo. I know that the KS 1060 REALLY brings the DA-50 to life, but if it were me, I'd go with an ESComposites tuned pipe, as it weighs only 4.2 ounces compared to abot 10-12 for most aluminum pipes.

I'm new too, I have ordered the H9 Cardon Yak and besides the fact I can't decide on a DA 50R or the new GX50 coming in July I'm wondering if my new plane will have provisions or space for a 27" tuned pipe. Where the heck do I put the thing?

Dick Hanson has done a lot of running on 50cc class engines on Tuned pipes and has found out the setups that are "workable".. You might do a search and find the answer you are looking for ...

a friend is running the MTW pipe on the DA50 in the small carf yak on a mejzlick 23x8 /24x10 2 blade.-
the power you get is awesome, needs to program a very very flat throttle curve. Regards, Chris http://www.acromasters.com http://www.aerobatic.net.tc |

What prop ? Hate to be picky but THAT is most important when discussing tach numbers.
Your avitar has a Vess shown I note but if it is which one ? 23A at least I hope. |

prop: Vess 23A
The avitar is a 32, not sure which A, B, or C, but that's on a DA-150.

IF you prop it to turn around 7000 rpm static a K&S 1060 pipe and a 12.2" header will work pretty well I would think.. I am running a 3W-106CS on those headers and pipes and it has a very nice midrange tranisition and gobs of top end..
Almost 3 gallons through it and it is Turning a Mej 28X10 around 7000rpm... Rick |
