I am looking at a Giles 202 UL from Ohio Model Products and it seems to be a well built ARF. My issue is that I have a modified Ryobi 31cc weedie conversion engine with a C&H ignition that I am considering in combination with the Giles. The engine has had .045 inches shaved off the head and some porting and polishing. Has anyone out there had their hands on OMP's Giles to know whether the Ryobi will fit. The manufacturer advertises a Brison 2.4 test it says works great and the weights of both engines are similar.
Any comments regarding either the ARF or the engine/ARF combo? thanks Davey |

With a little work, any motor can "fit".
That OMP Giles is a plane that is built to be VERY light and 3D ready. I think the Ryobi 31cc motor may be WAY to heavy for the nose of that plane. I had a Ryobi 31cc conversion, and it did well in the nose of my Ultra Stik lite 120. Perhaps if the CH ign dropped enough weight you'll be ok... Weigh the motor and talk to the guys at OMP, they can let you know if the motor will work.

What sort of power are you getting with the modified Ryobi? Unless it's on a pipe or cannister, I doubt it will put out the same power as a good 2.4. No replacement for displacement.

The BME 50 weighs 1.8 ounces more than the 2.4 brisson so I put my Brisson back on the shelf...
