I dont think Judge was doing anything but stating that by some of the posts, people seem to think a solution should have been found overnight. There arent too many people that are more impatient than I am but I totally understand that it will take a bit of time to find out what the problem is that people are experiencing and a solution to that problem. Of course I want to fly....been waiting all winter and have a few new planes that I have only gotten a few flights on but as far as I am concerned, there IS a problem and I want to know what it is before I risk anything or anyone.
I will probably be at the Nall this year, and will be at the XFC and I know a great deal of people are hoping to have this issue resolved before that. I hope it is myself, and I am sure that Futaba is working on this as fast as they can. Blair

Just curious what other pilots are doing while Futaba figures this out. Are you still flying with the system or have you self grounded your planes? I have a new AW Yak I plan to maiden in about 1 week with a 6014 installed. More than a little nervous after reading about this issue.
I did fly with the 6EX system in multiple planes all last summer, I know not the same receiver, with no heat issues. |

If this is indeed the problem, I am sure Futaba had no idea this would be a problem.

It is not hot here (less than 70f) so I am monitoring my Rx's. But if it gets warm I will not fly until we hear back from Futaba. I am also covering my canopy on the ground as it gets very hot in there under the sun no matter what the temp is outside. I have not tried to reproduce the results - but I plan to very soon (just need some time to get to it.)
I have no choice but to mount the Rx's up in the canopy - I am getting occasional failsafes if I don't. Very brief failsafes but failsafes none the less. I am guessing the engine is somehow blocking the signal but I'm not sure. No issues when they are up in the canopy... |

Of the few flights I have had on those couple of planes with the 6014's I havent had any problems but I wont fly them until I find out more...The temps around here arent bad yet though...Never had a problem with the 7 channel receivers either.

Judge, given that you are affiliated with Futaba, the best thing you can do is stay out of this. The more you post, the more of a negative opinion I have about Futaba.

CR,
Are you using a data logger to determine you are getting brief failsafes. If yes, pass on the link, I would like to buy one for my FASST systems. Thanks.

In my Python with the Rx's in the canopy in 12 flights I have seen 0 switches. On my 3W Extra with the Rx's in the fuse on a Powerbox Royal with built in RRS (but away from CF and big metal objects) I have seen 3 failsafes (just one flight.) When the weather gets good again I will move the Rx's up to the canopy... that is once this temp issue has been confirmed or denied... Here is the RRS link: http://www.powerbox-systems.com/e/po..._rrs/start.php When the Rx's switched the RRS still showed they were "on-line" 100%. I wrote Duralite and they told me that the failsafes were very brief (i.e. less than 1% total flight duration) so thats why they both still showed 100% |

Well for what its worth I just tried the "heat gun test" on four 6014's and one 607. I got the cases as hot as 188f (thats really really hot) and they were still fine.
Then I did one and "went for broke" - I got the case to 212f and it went red. The case settled to 150 afer about 1 min. It was still red with the case down to 125f after 3 mins. Okay - 100f and the green light came back on. There is a clear audible "click" when it goes off and when it comes back on. So it is repeatable - but man oh man is that hot! I can't imagine it getting that hot in an airplane. But I guess if it starts out at 110f and gets some sun on it it could happen. It seems like the board takes a while to absorb the heat (makes sense.) I guess the board will soak up ambient heat over time esp when it is turned on. Darn. I fly at the same field as the secret person that is having the problem. I am running the same receiver as the secret pilot. I am not having any problems, but my reciever is not exposed to direct sunlight. But I am running pipes and he is not. I am running Smart Fly Power Expanders and he is not. I am flying wood airframes (Aeroworks and Hangar 9) and he is not (comp arf and krill).
I have the new 8 channel reciever that I have not flown but I have used it while setting up a plane for my buddy. The receiver was warmer then room temp (10-15 degrees) after 20-30 minutes. I thought this was odd.

Judge, I thought you were trying to hide the problem.
