It looks like these suffer from a typical Chinese lack of quality control. I'd just avoid having to buy twice and spend a little more for a known-quantity like the DL50 or DA50.

Xjet,
If you were in the states, I would send you a 50cc for you to try "for free". !!!
But I am not paying the shipping cost to try and change your mine.

I have 22 engines in the field now. "Most paying customers" and have heard
nothing but A+ results.

I did'nt just walk off the cotton fields, I have done over 1-1/2 yrs of testing.
From junk, to maybe, to now. Over 20 engines.
I did my homework.

Take my word, just because a vendor does'nt decide to mark up his products
75-100%, does'nt mean there products are bad. I know what distributors pay
for their engines and it's lower than you can imagine.

Order one and you might just be surprised ?????

Also, if you received an engine from me, there won't be any bent shafts.
We support what we sell.!

I make a point of paying for every item I review at RCModelReviews.com-- so that people know my reviews aren't tainted by any real or perceived obligation to be nice to a supplier that has given me stuff.

The way things work here is that I only have a limited budget for purchasing products to review and this means I have to sell stuff I've already purchased and reviewed in order to recoup the funds to by new items for future reviews. Right now all my review money is tied up in products sitting here awaiting my attention. And, since some of that stuff is so *bad* that I'll never be able to recoup my investment (call me a wimp but I really can't inflict some of this stuff on people once I know how bad it actually is -- see the MG995 servo review for example) I'll also have to wait for a bit of an additional top-up from my personal account funds.
However, once I get a few more of the pending reviews out the door and earn a little more cash for the site, I'll buy an engine or two and give them a thoroughly objective review.

Xjet,
First, I know all about the MG995 servos.

Second, If you do a lot of reviews, then you know that you can never shoot down
an item in our hobby unless you have it in front of you. It could be bad or good.

Third, I must be honest that I have not been very active on FG for the 30 years
I have been in our hobby. But, I have seen a few of your post in the past. Rather
mostly on RCU.

We are not trying to get rich, I love the engine side of our hobby and again have
done my home work. The staff of engineers and sales people with XYZ have finally
been given a chance. They have honestly been very responsive to HC,
but the support XYZ was looking for can not come from them.

We inspect every engine for flaws and stamp serial numbers on each engine.
It has to get through our shop before it goes to you.

I hope this changes your mine and can at least give us a chance as we just signed
papers four weeks ago.

Ron

I have not yet made the jump into giant scale but I am considering it. When I do, I will most probably start in the 50cc class. My first decision after the choice of aircraft is engine. My friend flys a DA 50 and loves it and also paid about $700 for the priviledge. I would like to go an little more economy and then I came across your website and the XYZ 50cc at an unbelieveable price. You make a point on your site to say that the engine is not a DA, and that it is for the weekend sport flyer. Can you tell me the difference in both the DA and yours.

True Ron, which is why I simply linked to the comments of people who've actually purchased this engine and summarized the situation they're experiencing.

It appears if you're setting yourself up for success in the same way that DLUSA has done.

I've always said that the *only* way to buy a Chinese-made product is to go through a reputable local distributor who is prepared to perform the vital final-QC step that the Chinese inevitably ignore. If you're giving each engine a good check-over and standing behind it with a warranty and support then chances are you'll do well -- so long as the manufacturer doesn't send you broke by shipping too many lemons.

DLUSA have done this with the DL50 and the result is a great product at a great price. Your price looks to be even better so if the product stacks up and you can assure an acceptable level of quality then you are sitting pretty.

Unfortunately the eBay traders and HCs of the world will continue to give the product a bad name by not doing any QC prior to shipping and dropping the support ball. They'll under-cut your prices and create a bad reputation for the product in the process. That'll be your biggest hurdle, getting the message across that your margin is *worth* paying for because of the value you add to the whole transaction.

I wish you luck with this venture, competition is good for everyone.

do you have any comment about my post? You make a point of saying "these are not DA or 3W" on your web site, what is the difference between theirs and yours. Also I was incorrect in my previous post, that these engines were for sport flyers, sorry.

Jpal,
The reason I have not responded until today is we spent all day yesterday at our local flying field
and took some video.
One of our flyers bought an XYZ-50 and installed it in his Hanger9 Extra 260. Unfortunitly, he did not
remove the &^@$ DA-50 decal on the cowl.??? So we have to edit that out.

Anyway, I will post a link to the video here tonight when we clean up some of the camera mans BAD
shots. "SHOULD HAVE HIRED A PRO". Just kidding, it's not to bad.

The engine he installed was right out of the box and did not see a flight yet. Just some adjusting on
the ground. Never the less it performed very well even though it was a little rich.

As far as compared to a DA-50. Well, I have one in a 50cc Dietrich Extra 260 and it flys great
and the engine runs fine. I honestly think that the XYZ-50 starts as good and runs just as well.
However because the XYZ has a shorter stroke and a bigger bore, the max rpm is a bit less.

We are now working on static thrust, HP and other information we can supply.
Please be a bit patient as we continue to work on getting all the information we can on our website.

Xjet,
Thanks for the best wishes, I have a DL-50 and Bob has done a great job marketing and taking
care of his customers. He has always responded to all of my questions I have asked.
That is customer service!
You must always stay in contact with your manufacture as they are hearing any little issue that
may or may not start bad feedback.

I hope we can supply as good or even better customer support and service on our end.

Please stay active on this thread as I would apperciate your help and input.

Thank you for the reply but, I am more concerned about the dependability in the long run and the materials the engine is made of off. I guess we dont know how it will perform in the long run since it was just introduced to the market.

Having seen these in action (I fly at Rons field), I'm seriously considering a 120 warbird project with the 26cc engine. Well I decided on it, I'm seriously considering how to get it past my wife.

I'm no expert but for the money these seem to be nice little engines.

heres what im going to do when i get ready. remember tax rebate checks are on the way. i'm going to purchase one and if it dosent run well, then i'll just send it back for a full refund. but on the other hand if it runs flawless, huh............................. XYZ will dominate the market on those first timers getting into gas engines and wanting to start at 50cc. the word will spread and pretty soon they're be backordered for years to come. the engines are really cheap in price and in todays economy thats just perfect. xyz just might be the answer for a budget minded hobbists wanting to try gas.
