Default Hangar 9 Sundowner formula 1

Hey guys, i know this sounds crazy, but i am a beginner, and i am thinking of getting a sundowner formula one. I was wandering if there was anything that i could possibly get before it to like train on, with a trainer to teach me. I was thinking like just a cheap plane. Thanks guys. Just to get the basics down. Then i was planning on getting the hangar 9 formula 1 and getting a training lesson with a buddy box so i dont crash it on its maiden flight. Well guys any advice would be great thanks.

To be honest, when I switched from helicopters, I had two trainers, a Hobbico Electristar (40 size electric) and a Hobbico Hobbistar 60 (60 size). They were both great but I outgrew them both in about 3 weeks or so and went straight for an Extreme Flight Extra 300... I'd suggest that route, probably start with a nice 60 size trainer so you can use the motor on your Sundowner

Dude you just need to bite the bullet and buy a trainer, get good, and start buying every plane you want after that. That is the great thing about this hobby there is always something you want.

The H9 mustang is a neat plane but I think the super stick would be much better - will fly very slow and if you set up crow on it will almost auto land for you. The mustangs I flew were kind of a hand full - just awful with the 3 blade and leading edge slats and flaps out.

just my opinion - you can grow more with the stick than the mustang.

iv been telling folks to get the parkzone t28 rtf,, for the cash it flys better then any electric iv flown in years.. very scale habits, and long flights with the included brushless system. for 219 on horizon this rtf is hard to beat,, and once you can fly it youll be able to move up to a midwing easier.. i never had a 'trainer' i used flying wings and gliders, the best part of gliders is youll learn how to deadstick. and to use the rudder from the start. good luck

if you can find a good instructor... you could start right with the sundowner, but until you could solo it you would be stuck with an instructor on a buddy box.
failing that get a trainer that is a tail trager... if you have any rc time at all. and if you have zero you really need to start with a basic trainer.
the sundowner is a beautiful flyer but even at a cruise its at least 3 times that of a trainer set up to fly slow for a newby. not to mention at least 3 times the landing speed of a trainer also.
something like a super sportser 60 with a strong engine would be a great step between a basic trainer and the sundowner. I have a tricked out SS 60... its pretty old now, I sheeted the wing, installed retracks, and installed knuckle hinges on all the surfaces. it had a OS sf abc .61 long stroke pumped and piped it was clocked at 121mph on 15%. this was a great plane because you had to learn how land perfect since it had retracks. it also did not bleed speed very fast, even with the gear down.
in the end it taught me alot about rc flying. my old .61 will still spin a 13x6apc at 13000+rpm on 30%. after all these years its still a stump puller as 60 size goes.
I did get a chance to fly my sundower this weekend though. mounted my gps in it, saito 220 set over 500rpm off peek (8000+)with a 18x10 xoar it hit a 199kph (124mph). the 220 needs a pump badly so i have one on the way. I have a 16x16 apc that i want to try. the saito guys think it will over rev in the air but i have not even seen the static on this prop yet. there is another guy on a different forum that has a 16x14 on a bgx on a pipe i think he listed his static at 8300 and gps was 144mph.
the 18x10 has awesome pull on a plane that came in under 12lbs dry.
