You're right about no "cut and dry" answers. There are so many good ARF's out there now, it makes it hard to chose. There is a thread on the TV on here, they say it's a great plane.

Ken,

I don't know what the Saito 1.50 weighs, so I'm not sure whose plane is heavier. All I know is that it's not as light as it could be, and there are lighter engines out there that will provide plenty of power, but will give you a lighter airframe, as far as the Showtime is concerned.

Agreed. Actually I looked up the weights, my motor weighs about 2 oz. less and take in the fact I'm using a straight pipe and you're using the Pitts muffler, I'm 6 to 8 oz. lighter than you, which would account for you having to add lead to your stab. Of course with my gear plate repair, I've eaten up the difference by now!

I like how the original poster only wanted opinions on three planes, the Wild Hare 73" Edge, Chip Hyde Tunnel Vision, Ultra RC 29% Giles 202, and yet there is more talk about the showtime 4d and GP Yak. There are so many good airplanes that I too always have a hard time deciding what I want.

OK, right now I have it in this order:
1. Tunnel Vision
2. WH Edge, very close race with #1
3. Giles 202
4. Showtime, but there are still concerns about the OS 160 in this plane

Eventually it may come down to what plane looks the best, lol.

Karl, Get the WH Edge. See if Tom has it in a all white, that way you can customize it. Then you can purchase my WH Extra off me later this summer. Actually any plane you choose will be just fine for the 1.60, but just remember one you go gas you never want to go back.Bruce

I guess I will though in my 2 cents. Nothing flies 3d like a profile (tunnel vision), but nothing looks as cool as a scale aircraft. I personally just can't get past to great looks of a scale aircraft but that is just me.

Check out the video for the Ultra RC Giles. It flies so light yet precise. It's on UltraRC's website.

I have seen video of all three planes, and saw a guy at the field fly the Showtime. Yes, all are nice, but which one will I really like. Someone should start up a service where you can test fly these planes to see which one you really like!

That is a great idea! They let you test drive cars and stuff so why not airplanes!

Bruce,

You keep teasing me with your WH Extra. Now be nice to me, I am in a very fragile state and could go "postal" if this is not a real offer. You already know I want to get into the gas planes. If you ARE serious about the Extra then I will probably get the Tunnel Vision for the OS 160.

I like how the original poster also said "Write in candidates will be considered"

Karl,

The Showtime with this kind of power isn't for everybody. Some live by the " the lighter the better" rule. I bought my Showtime with the Saito 150 in it already. I might be doing a build thread on a new Showtime and I probably will try the new Saito 125, since a ton of people want to know more about the motor.

I almost bought a WH Extra Special, but they were waiting for them at the time, so I put my money in a Showtime. I happen to like the WH planes, a very nice plane for the money. Then there's the fact of the Tunnel Vision flies so sweet, in the video's, I want one of them too.

Bottom line is, I haven't helped you a bit, have I?
