Default SERVOS??

I'm seriously considering a Aeroworks 35% Extra 260 ARF.
But, the plans call for 180+ in oz of torque.(4 on the wings, etc.)
I'm not for spending $800/$900 on servos.
Is there another direction I can go? Leon

Im flying the same plane now with Hitec 5985's on the ailerons, 2 5955's for the elevators and one JR 8711 for the rudder. No problems what so ever and that setup is around 600 or so.

I've got all Hitec 5985s on my 33% and she seems perfect (programmed). On my 35% CompARF she has all JR8611As. Don't want to get "el cheapo" on stuff this expensive. Overkill is better for large surfaces anyhow, you don't want the bare minimum.

Oh and if your servos are high torque enough, you may consider not putting 4 aileron servos in and just using 2.

This guy's setup is perfect with budget in mind - absolutely no problems with mine when I ran Hitecs. I even ran a single 5955 on the rudder, which worked, but the 8711 is the better way to go here.
I don't know if the CS170 servos are cheaper, but they are the same as the 5955's, so give them a look. You can also find used servos pretty cheap.

while Aeroworks will not recommend this, and it would release them of any liability for failures, VKGT has an idea here. In fact, my friend has that very plane with only one 5955 per wing and he had well over 500 flights with ZERO problems, so this, too, is an option.

I have this plane with 5955 servos on all surfaces except the rudder. I used a single 8711 on the rudder, which I mounted in a push/pull instead of the pull/pull described in the manual. The plane comes with the mounting points for the push/pull option, and I find it a little more positive than a pull/pull. I think the plane would be fine with 5985 on all surfaces except the rudder, 8711 is a must there.

You can often find good deals on the 5985s if you look around the web.

I also use a single push pull 8711 on the rudder. For the other servos, you can find great deals on 8611 and 8611A servos, you will need 6, in the classified you can find these for $450. They are still a great servo.

2 each HS-5985 for ailerons 4 x $73 = $292
1 each HS-5955 for elevators 2 x $90= $180
1 each JR 8711 for rudder 1 x $115= $115
TOTAL=$587

The above is brand new prices with free shipping at:
Well under $800-$900, why trust someone elses used servos or go cheaper on an airplane of that size and quality.

Under $600 for servos in a 35% bird is good value and a pretty small percentage of the total value of the model.

Gee, I've got that much in servos tied up in my 30%.

Good gear is an *investment*, cheap junk is a cost. Unless you're *really* unlucky (or just a lousy flier) you can use those servos again in another model later so grit your teeth and spend-away! :-)

I also have this plane with 5955 all around two on the rudder. LOVE the 5955's and LOVE the plane! I have had many ARF's this is by far the best one to date. Going on my second season and it still looks like (just out of the box). Nothing has shook loose cracked, or broken. Good luck on your choices..

Well I have a 35% and am using 80 oz servos only one per surface but I'm using boost tabs on all surfaces and and the control surfaces are all mass balanced

I'm going to run 5985's in the wings,5955's on the elevators, and 2-5955's in a Self-adjusting SWB tray for rudder and A123's through an I4c isolator for the servo power on mine with a DZY100 twin for power
