Default SD Models Yak 37.5%...

well i have this plane for a year but couldnt built it due to a low budget and of course time that i didnt have, so now i have some money to spent, time...not so much, but i try to keep up with it.
So here are some pictures...

i use a TME fuel pump, i did some modifications like sealing it, apparently it leaks so i opened it and close the gaps,(in time the gaskets dry) also i used different bolts then the original one.
Why i use it? well... at the time i dont have something else and that pump really does the job! i think its awesome, i have it for 6 years!

All my wires are with Velcro straps, i dont use zip ties, here you can see why, these are the elevator wires, when i need them for installation i take them of the Velcro and install them, when not i attach them to the fuse and not worry about them getting in the fuse, well all from experience when you are coming to the field and spending 2 hours trying to get them out from the fuse.

Since i dont have a truck or a trailer, at the moment, i am going to detach the rudder, so for that i got some easy links, they can be detached from the rudder in no time, and in about 30 seconds i can put them back in place with the rudder

Yesterday we put the engine on the fire wall, but where the hell am i going to put a 3 m' long plane?
Well eventually we found a place, with a very gentle and patience way, we put it on the balustrade, well we were very precaution!
Dont worry my porch is above another one that is about 3m' down. LOL

More to come, i still needs to trim the cowl air flow slots and there are allot of them.

Electronics that i am going to use:
2 2300Mah Fromeco iron corps extreme for the servos
1 2300Mah Fromeco iron corps for the ignition.
2 Kodiak switches for the two of them.
1 2400Mha Fromeco lion with Fromeco regulator for the smoke pump( i am going to use it allot)
Smart-Fly EQ 10
Spectrum RX and TX

Thanks,

Adi

FYI - throw away the SD models spinner. It is made out cast aluminum and cause your bolts to shear off.

Very nice job so far - I like the way you did your motor box!!

Keep the pics coming!!

Thanks guys,

As for the spinner, it was just been used for the measurements, the cowl on top of the engine, that spinner is true... poor quality, i will use a carbon one for sure.

When i will finish the engine i will post some more pictures, stay tune for the decals set i am about to cover this babe!

I agree, throw the spinners away that come with the SD kits.... They are garbage. They'll cause you more a$$ pain than its worth. I went through 2 of them in under 3 months, and stuck with a spinner bolt in my prop shaft of my DA.... TRU-TURN all the way from now on!!!

Well we did the wiring and put the engine.
I used some new stuff to manage the wires and batteries, came out great.

I am using 3 Kodiak switches for the 3 A123's i have, 2 2300 Iron Corps Extreme for the servos and one Iron Corps 1200 for the ignition, all are Fromeco.
I attached the batteries to a special board i did from carbon a ply.

Thanks for the great pix of your Yak---they have given me new impetus to begin construction of mine. Hitec 5955 servos will used all around on mine; and I believe they are basically the same as the C170 you are using.

That is some incredible site you have from the balcony! I'd get shaky knees looking over the railing when securing the plane, however. Good luck with your build and pleeeeeeze keep the pix coming!

I had to put my batteries all the way forward plus shim motor out quite a bit to get cg. It still ended up aft of factory recommendation. Flies great though.

Thanks rcav8tor for the kind words. i will send some pictures and here are some more...
crazyjoe, i know that that plane is a very tail heavy but that much??

Today i installed the EQ 6 smart fly, boy that system is awesome!! took me 40 minutes to finish all my 14 servos set up, well done smart fly!!!
Used some high gage wires for the batteries, as you can see more the n 22/

Although i am using Fromeco A123 batteries, i am using a voltage reg', that is all i got from the local hobby shop, waiting for the EQ 10 will take a month or so and i am anxious to fly that babe, so with the help of some friends here (FG)that gave me the right solution, i will increase the adjustment of the Reg to his max', 6.4V so it will be very close to the 6.6V they are giving me with out a reg.
Long story short, "I love when plans comes together"

here are some pictures from the electric and fuel and smoke set up, everything is in place and that it is organized.

And how can we all forget the pilot, it is kind of an experiment. LOL

Adi,

Looks like your getting close to maiden!

be sure to take pics/vids...

I am thinking of getting my third Yak. My first 2 were in the orange/checkerboard like yours. The 3rd will be the new red/black swirl...
