Gotta wonder why a plane that size does not use a carbon wing tube...or a wingtube of any material for that matter.

I beleive that a wood joiner for a plane this size is not acceptable.

The main difference beetween aluminum and CF is weight, obviously there are a few factors to consider like aluminum thickness and grade. I also have seen Carbon Fiber Tubes Fail.

Krill Models are probably one of the best ARF's (my opinion) They make largers airplanes than this 27% and they always use aluminum wing tubes without any problem.

I saw one of these blow apart with a DA50 in it. He flew it for a while and he went out flying and did a roll and the wing snap in half. We laugh cause the fuse for some reason broke in the air also and servos were coming out covering was going everywhere. It look like it was shot with a shot gun.

I believe if I had I joiner made of plywood or even a joiner where the grain ran perpendicular to the wing this would not have happened. I do not claim to have babied the plane or that this was the second or third flight I just wish mine came with a plywood joiner. Good luck getting GP to man up and yes it was epoxied well with 30 min.
After looking at this, i'm definitely going to duplicate the one i got in the ARF with a plywood one. Even if the joiner is running perpendicular to the plane, which i haven't checked yet, i do know for sure the joiner is flexing with barely any force.
I'm thinking a 5ply duplicate joiner?
i'm going to have a DA50 in mine, and since this is my first gasser, i want everything to go as smoothly as possible and am replacing anything that looks questionable.

A few weeks ago some one gave the Cap 232 as a gift. he used to fly it with an O.S. 160 fx on it but I am planning to buy a gasoline engine for it. Iīm planning to buy a DLE 55cc for it. This will be my first gas engine. Can you please tell me if the engine will work on the plane? I would also like to know if I need to buy additional hardware. For example for the tank Iīve heard that I need to buy other accesories for it but I donīt know which ones I need to buy, and I donīt know if I need to buy any additional hardware to install the engine; such as screws, etc.
Thanks a lot

You can use the DLE55, you just have to do a little reinforcing. Drill around the sides of the firewall and epoxy some hard wood dowels about an inch into the edges, 3 or 4 per side should do. For the tank, you can use the stock fuel tank but you need to replace the rubber stopper with one that is safe for gasoline. The stock stopper will dissolve and leak fairly quickly. You may need stand offs for the engine if you don't have some already, I can't remember the size off the top of my head. All the other stock hardware should work just fine.

thanks a lot for your advice. I forgot to ask the last question, which propellers should I use in order to do 3d manouvers? and which ones should I use to do sport flying? once again thank you

Did you have to buy an adapter for the spinner, or does the spinner fit the DLE 55 with the included hardware?

Not sure what the best prop would be on the 55, I used to use a vess 22B on the 50. As far as I remember the spinner fit, but I don't remember if I had to drill it out or not.

I bought a Tru Turn spinner for mine which are alot better quality and no drilling for the prop screws to boot. Chief Aircraft has good prices on them........As far as a prop, any 22x8 will work great...I've used , NX, Xoar, PT Models, etc...The plane is so light and slighty (LOL) overpowered that any good 22x8 will fly it great. I would recommend putting 1/2 thick plywood blocks under the landing gear for clearance, especially if you take off on grass. Mines been around since 2007 and still looks and flys great.
The Cap only needs a few minor mods to make it gas worthy. Nothing like the GP Ulimate that guys are putting 50cc engines, that plane has numerous mods you have to do to make it gas worthy. A ridiculous amount I might add. Thanks to Bubba for pointing me in the right direction with the GP Cap 232 when I was just getting into gas.

I don't see it on Towers site anymore, it was on there recently... could it be that they they've discontinued it? That would be a shame, its a great model.

Yes, they did discontinue the Cap 232.........All summer long it was on "order" due Aug then Sept. Then a couple of weeks ago it was listed as discontinued. I hoping to order a spare, mine has been around for 3.5 yrs and its a blast with a 50cc engine in it.........I could pick some other planes GP could of discontinued other than the Cap....
