I see you decided not to go with a pitts exhaust. Why was that? I'm getting ready to start building this plane with a Zenoah G26ei and I was going to order the slimline pitts exhaust for it. I think i'll need at least 1.25 in standoffs to pull the engine out enough for the muffler not to touch the firewall. Do you think this is a good idea or should I go with something like the bennit smoke muffler? I'm going to run a TME deluxe smoke pump. The GPSS is looking GREAT! -Shaw

well... i have done a bunch of testing with both the side mount and the pitts. i have ruined both from the way i fly. i however had much worse luck with the pitts.i fly wide open with my 50s. just a bad habit. the exhaust pulses while flying like that distroy the cheap aluim. they mfg the stock mufflers from. it takes a month of sundays to change the pitts when it breaks becuse of the 2 rear mounting screws the crrc uses. with the zenoah the muffler is much better quality. also the side mount produces a much better low end grunt. now saying this it wont at all have any real effect on this plane becuse its only like 30% over powered. i have a couple of the 50 cc crrc pros. my other is in a patty wagstaff and that one blows holes in the sky and gets better each week. i have aprox 100 flights on that one. the one that is on the stearman has about 75 or so. it was on a doomed ship that went in at the first huck fest this spring. she lives to fly again !!!!

Didn't get much fuel in before it came out the vent, did you ? LOL
At least you still have it in one piece.
I lost a plane when I filled the smoke tank instead of the fuel tank and ran out of gas 2 1/2 minutes later. Couldn't make it back to land.
I will be waiting on the video.

ok ok i am so excited! sorry from the start no video. couldnt get the camera. will have one tomorrow. we have columbus day here in ma. tomorrow so we have the day off. another reason to fly.
ok now for the skinny. if any and i mean any of you re waiting to put a monster in your stearman. do it do it now and fast!. this thing is so bad ass. it took 2 clicks of down to fly hands off. full power or crawlng. it flys straight with no thrust issues even at full throttle. it flys like a turtle or like a pylon racer. it lands like a stearman you must fly it till it lands cant cut the power and glide it in. with the 22x8 prop its like having brakes. i flew it 20 times today and each and every time it was easier and easier to land and wing out. it rolls on high rate awsome and it does everything it is asked. it is a rocket ship. all i can say!

Hi, I am buying materials to build my Super Stearman and I was wondering why you chose the Robart pin hinges as apposed to something like the Great Planes nylon hinges? Also, could you tell me how many pin hinges you used for each of the follow:

each aileron surface:
each elevator surface:
each rudder surface:

I appreciate your help and I'm looking forward to seeing video of your bird!

i used robart style. a little more work but becuse of my choice of motors i wanted to be sure.

weak points to date. screws in wing cabanes keep coming loose. cowl mounting ring is cool but the tabs are weak. i added blocks with a step. when you get yours you will understand. landing gear block needs to have some glue added as it is locked in but will come a little loose. (also the gear bracket cover is to be glued in to place as per instructions. dont, use some clear silicone at the screw head cutouts in the block. it will peel right off the metal heads but stay in place until you want to remove it as i had to. if you use glue good luck...wheel pants are nice but need to be reinforced with some fiberglass cloth over the wood block to add stiffness. if you use the hardware kit provided solder one end of the clevis so it will not come loose dont rely on the supplied nuts to lock. if you toss the supplied rear wheel setup as i did you will need to dig out the balsa in the tail and add a hardwood block to secure the bracket.pay attention to the instructions and have the servo arms go on nthe right directions per the instructions ( it cautions you) if you reverse them it is real close to the cabanes and the clevis will hit on high rates.

i have video although it stinks, you will see her fly and take off. it takes off like a dream and flys real easy. landing will take some practice as you cannot come in on a flat glide and cut the power it will stop and fall ! lol. you must drive it to the ground (especialy with a 22x8 prop with less than 2 inches of clearance !!!).

look in your quote for the hinge quanity i posted it in the wrong spot
